I bought a 2012 with a super noisy motor. It actually ran ok but once I tore the engine down I found number 1 piston with a hole in the skirt almost and it scored into the cylinder wall. Ruined the whole block

I took my car in yesterday and It has piston two days after the ten year warranty expired. Waiting to hear if they are going to cover with the extended warranty since it was in Utah for 6.5 years.

I went back and forth with them and I sure feel like it was the moisture content of the material and then it changed content too quickly meaning it dried out. They wouldn't disclose anything to me and then they said they would give me a refund and then I had to jump through hoops to got it, it was too much trouble so I just moved on and I'm living with it. I would say after the checking is done it seems to be pretty stable

@@paulwaterloo345 That sounds like what happened. We had a weekend of rain and then sun last few days and they just started appearing everywhere. Maybe if I had been quicker to seal it it could have been prevented but we aren't even finished the install yet (about 1200 sq ft).

Currently having Kebony installed at my home and experiencing similar cracking. Very disappointing. My contractor exchanged some boards for new ones and they seem to be performing better but we’re still in early days.

Yes, I think this is part of the product that they don't tell you about. My front stairs had cracking in the first 24 hours. It doesn't appear as bad as my back stairs but the performance of this wood is not what I would call "premium". And if you need to use your 30 year warranty, all they do is replace the rotted wood. Not much of a warranty.

There is a warranty of 100,000 miles or 10 years so if you're still within that they should cover its plus he'll probably about three thousand additional dollars for all the additional things. There was a class-action lawsuit but that is over as of about 2 years ago

How about the timing chain sir do you need to change for shorter chain?
@paulwaterloo345
@paulwaterloo345 Жыл бұрын
I did purchase a new chain. There was a class action lawsuit that Hyundai paid out, if your car has less than 100,000 miles and ten years, bring it to the dealer, they will most likely change the short block for you. It will still cost you $$ for other parts, but they will cover it. Here are all the parts with part numbers I replaced. i.imgur.com/UC1tCDn.jpg Some of the parts I purchased off of Rockauto and were not OEM. You need a new oil pan for the new block.

I had one. Fast and fun. It was a money pit. Ate coils, EGRS and O2s. The direct injection caused carbon build up and it needed de-coking like a motor from the early twentieth century. Had the central air fan disease inherent to all VW products where the $20 fan failed and you had to take the dash out to replace it. Almost any motor service requires dropping the motor or removing the front clip. Motor mounts are a failure point and are very expensive. Most services were $1k to start at a mechanic just to get to the part that need replacement. Sold it for a song. Now someone else can fix all the crap that goes wrong with them.

That's a very low milage vehicle for having a knock. I have a 2014 hyundai elantra 1.8 engine that I bought my daughter and last week I got in to it and turned the car one andit made a loud ticking sound initially but almost immediately it went always. After doing lots of research I came to the conclusión. That it was the VVT cam sprockets and timing chain and guides. So I removed the valve cover to find out that the car was full of gummed up sludge. I mean really really bad sludge. My first thought was. This car is a gone. But it did still sounded good after the initial engine start. So I did more research this time on engine sludge and came up with with a video from WatchJRgo on KZbin. Where he bought a Cámaro with lots of sludge but no where near as much as my Daughters Elantra. He uses BG engine restoration kit. I was very escépticas because of how nasty my elantras engine looked. But I said to my self.what could go wrong. Then I bought the Engine treatment wich was $300+ and flushed the engine. And I sweater it was a mirarle. The engine sounds brand new. Then I removed the valve cover to see how good of a job BG did. And I was completly speechless. The top of the cylinder head looked almost new. I posted a video of the before and after the BG treatment. Go check it out. I know that in your occassion you have metal in the oil wich is a terrible news. But for those who just have a ticking sound from the VVT system or timing tensioner. This BG engine restoration kit is something that you should look in to. Good luck

If you're mechanically able take the engine out, have it bored and get new pistons, have it THOROUGHLY cleaned and get new oil pump, rtc. 4 pistons with rings barely 100.00, WHY chance it and buy another bad engine? The more i watch youtube the more i see these same complaints so its not due to bad maintenance its the shorter piston skirts. I saw someone else that had a salvage car and they werent able to get a new engine either
