@@certifiedlaptoprepair5313 thanks - well the mac I want to replace bezel on is the 2020 M1 2337. Someone else on a different youtube video commented that they had ruined their display doing this because the orange cables were much closer to the bezel in the Air - compared to the Pro. So before I pull out my wife's hairdryer to attempt this I just wanted to ask an expert like you. Cheers!

@Beyonder1881 this is definitely a very precise job and if you don’t have the knowledge and experience, I would highly recommend not doing it and sending it to a professional. And please, not with a hairdryer. Heat guns cost around 20$, but also you cannot overheat the screen, so your best bet would be taking it to a local repair shop.

@@certifiedlaptoprepair5313 thanks for the words of caution. If I decide to do it, I will get a heat gun. I have tinkered a little but with macs before including replace display, replace logic boards etc, so I am (almost) confident to try this one. I guess the worst that could happen is that the display is ruined, which a new aftermarket one can be found online for about 120USD...

I have a Asus TUF A15 and the problem is whenever I play games on charging, no matter what game it is. It crashes with always a GPU error. But when on laptop power, the game will run smoothly until the battery dies. For example, whenever I play RDR2 on charge it always crashes with GFX_STATE_ERR. But when on laptop power, it crashes rarely without any errors. Now, i use to play Just cause 3, Halo infinite, Marvel's Spider-Man, days gone when I bought this laptop and then they all use to run smoothly without any crash. I use to play for 5-6 hours. But now, even on 60+fps every game crashes while on charge.

Your issue seems more like drivers error. Make sure you update all drivers especially graphics one. In some cases you might have to uninstall and reinstall them or even reinstall the os. If problem occurs afterwards, then i would start looking into hardware and disassembling. It is always best to take it to a specialist who knows what they’re doing.

Usually tear downs are fairly easy compared to component level repairs and that is why i don’t include them. Moreover, if you don’t have enough knowledge for disassembling the board i would highly recommend to stop and not go any further. You can mail it in to us or to any other reputable board repair company.

I didn’t mention names out of respect to everyone in the repair industry and their hard work. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised with anyone making mistakes or missing something as no one is god. We all are human and make mistakes, and we learn from them. The real failure is not learning from mistakes. BTW this is what Louis says in all his videos: “As always I hope you learned something”!

As an amateur replacing the charge ports and other simple odds and ends regarding my own devices, I only own cheap repair equipment. My desoldering gun doesn't vacuum as well as yours resulting in some lost pads when first using it. I now have consistent luck using a reflow gun instead and then using solder wick to de-solder the rest of the way once the part is removed. Being a novice, I use Kapton tape to heat shield nearby components from the heat. I still sometimes forget to add the low melt solder when beginning one of my infrequent repairs. Most of the simple repairs I do are successful. When I fail, I buy more parts and start over.
