Finding Mawile is really more a curse than a sign of good luck in Gen 3, sadly. It has a cool-ish design and a useful ability, but the positives end there. For starters, it was a pure Steel-type at the time... and learned NO attacking Steel moves whatsoever. Not only that, but the physical/special split didn't exist yet, so which one a move was came down to the move's type and Mawile learns next to no moves that take advantage of its higher attack stat. But setting all that aside, without access to Mega Evolution all the tweaks, type changes and moves in the world can't fix the biggest problem with Mawile: _Its stats are GOD AWFUL._ Beyond its decent physical attack and okay-ish defense, Mawile doesn't have a single other stat that cracks a base of 60.
