Let's enjoy and praise serious injuries and millions of dollars in property damage from wildfires sparked by fireworks? Chilean here. Fireworks, excepted the ones managed by professional companies, are illegal in my whole country. The campaign to ban them (called "¡Alto al fuego!" - "Cease fire!") was started by a medical foundation specialized in the treatment of seriously burned children (COANIQUEM, Corporación de Ayuda al Niño Quemado). Basically, they got sick and tired of dealing with kids losing skin, fingers, eyes, after *every* major holiday, and exchanging them for months or years of excruciating rehabilitation and a lifetime of consequences. Think harder next time you want to celebrate your ""freedoms.""

I'm a native and lifelong Angeleno and LA has always celebrated July 4 with fireworks. Defiance against prohibition has always been a part of it but 2020 was a celebration for the ages! Although, the whole city was covered in a smoky haze the entire next day. Reminded of the smoggy LA of the 80s and 90s.

Beautiful for the first minute then you start to see a massive layer of toxic air pollution from all the smoke that just blankets the city for a month…….it’s time to transition to drone shows- look better and keep clean air!!! I live in the valley, 2020 was most insane in 24 years I've lived here. It was going on till midnight almost continuous. It was incredible.
