Coached my kiddos U6 (4v4) team and coached the same squad until U10 (9v9). One they got old enough to tryout for select clubs, a couple players asked if I could train them in the off time. The training sessions turned into training camps and then I got an offer to help coach the local high school team. It’s a lot of fun and it definitely gets more serious the older you get and play with players who want to take it to the next level. Getting in on the ground level and growing with the kids as a coach helped so much

Hello! I coach middle school soccer its my first year and i dont know how to structure practices. Like first we stretch and warm up but after that idk what to do. I always end practices with a type of scrimmage
@angelsvoyage4 ай бұрын
Hello, thanks for watching the video. I think you’re off to a great start stretching and warm up is crucial. From there I would transition into simple, passing patterns. I believe that your training session should consist of what you are trying to portray in the games. Does your team have the play structure set?(Formation, style of play, etc.) I would also focus on footwork(pull backs, ball taps, L turns, etc.) if you have lots of beginners. I hope this helps.
@nigeljfit84134 ай бұрын
@@angelsvoyage thank you so much! Some play for a club some are beginners. They dnt know what set pieces are, were going to run a 4-4-2 , and we dnt have a style of play unfortunately

@@angelsvoyage they know basic dribbling passing and crossing though. Also where do i find drills at?

Coached for my first team just by volunteering this past fall for Rec. I loved it. I’m trying working on getting my D license. (All other grassroots courses completed) I’m enjoying the rec league for now because the kids I worked with were awesome, but I want to move into a more competitive setting in the future. And as you mentioned, a mentor is a definite need. My mentor is from France and has been coaching for 25 years all the way up to D1 all the to U4-U6. It’s been a huge difference maker. I’m very blessed and fortunate to have met my mentor before I started coaching.

Something that I always admired about the sport is never needing much more than a field, a ball, and whatever for posts… you did bring a ball, right?
@angelsvoyage10 ай бұрын
Haha, yes! I brought a ball! I was waiting to see who would mention that it was missing!
