If you were to continue working the stalk from that end, is it possible to access and replace the cruise control's Resume/Accelerate tab? My tab broke. Great info. I have one of these that intermittently goes off with no smoke present. To give it a good clean it seems that compressed air at the side where the sensor might help. Would you suggest doing this? Vacuuming didn't help

Those number wheels most likely were made of PA66 aka Nylon, which has the tendency to "swell" a bit over decades. Have had similar issues in the past, and did a similar job...and it worked well, too.

😮 Well im having a fuel rail problem , Got a new rail an all new injectors well those two lines at the end i needed to remove an the Gaskets Big pain gas Spraying on battery 😢. got new gaskets but not sure here lines seem loose

Great video. Note: be careful disconnecting the fuel line. It might be under pressure. You can relieve the pressure at the schrader valve or just put a couple of shop towels around the area where the line disconnects to avoid fuel spraying everywhere.

Here 4 years in the future, I have the exact same gear problem. I saw a video by another guy who managed to 3D print one, but I am unsure if the size and specifications are identical. Finding a replacement part as obscure as a small timer gear is not an easy task...have you been able to fix yours yet?

Thank you for your instruction video. Very helpful. May I suggest that you need not to take the tape out and have to touch the tape when you put it back. Let alone if ot slips from you it makes a big mess. This can be done but just turning the cassette on each side. Also you did not have to undo the cassette to put the protective blue guards. You can put them in and take them out by just squeezing them. So could have waited till all is screwed. As for the springs, it works better if you keep your thumb flat when pulling the spring away , this way when you let go it hits the little plastic dimple on the cassette and works from first time Hope you don’t mind my advice What is the eBay item number

Hello, cool video! I have one of these units. It appears to work fine. But, occasionally, it makes a quiet crackly or fizzy sound. I usually notice it later at night when all is very quiet. Do these units make a tiny bit of noise? It’s coming from the unit, not the speakers. Thanks!

I refurbished one of these Sony decks several years ago. They are a bit daunting, but after trial and error (and a manual from HiFi Engine) I was able to make it operate flawlessly. One note, when pulling the flywheels out be sure to keep track of the tiny nylon washers that go on the shaft. These are located on the part of the shaft housing that is in the front part of the mechanism. These prevent oil from coming out and contacting the pinch rollers. I also added a short strip of LED's above the door and it made for a very customized look when powered on. I used synthetic tape deck oil on the flywheel shafts and lithium grease on the other parts.

Oh dear! NEVER OIL GEARS only the bearings need a small drop of oil. Always clean off ALL the old oil as using synthetic oil on top of old oil will turn to glop and jam the mechanism. This is a good example of what NOT to do.
