Does it run DOOM? Haha. Amazing work, team! All the best for a great 2025! :D

We have this but why has no one made Yugioh a reality?
@ViperOfMinoКүн бұрын
I personally don't think this looks uncanny valley at all. It sort of looks like an American version of a 3d anime character. Could use some work, of course, but this looks really cool and promising.

Hey you can use 4k screens btw, it would have to have a pretty substantial delay but it would work given the correct rpm and refresh rate
@C.I...2 күн бұрын
The refresh rate is the issue. It has to be able to refresh at a much much higher speed than any available traditional display to work.

your description says 16 millon voxels but the video says 24 million so there appears to be a discrepancy lol, nonetheless though this is awesome ^_^ ^_^

the objects are all kind of transparent. do you think it will be possible in the future to have a display that can make solid objects?
@hustlemanonyaass2137Күн бұрын
I imagine it could become more solid looking with brighter lighting and a higher rpm of the display going up and down

I did not understand how the technology behind works, but because instead of making it a cylinder that give the lillusion that inside there are 3D images you not design a cylinder where the viewer is positioned inside being able to see thus a360 degrees around whether all holograms?
@randybutternubs46475 күн бұрын
Imagine using this with hand motion sensor controls to play top down strategy games. Games similar to Populous or Tyrants: Fight Through Time. You could use your finger as a cursor to command your people like a god. And send them into battle to destroy the civilizations of other gods (other players). That would be a fun party game. This would also be good for third person RPGs with a following camera.

@TaigiTWeseDiplomatFormosan5 күн бұрын
Maybe you can also make some stastic games like board game to decrease the refresh rate to acheive a better resolution with the sensor to produce a vr like interaction without wearing a headset? I'm thinking a platform like this for all the boardgame we can imagine without making any physical part while having the fun around a table without looking at a flat screen!!! This platform must be short enough so your hand can interact above it and will be easy to put on the table, yes, different boardgame shall have different environmental "set" so it can maxiumum its interaction (for ex, if it's a card game, there will be a central area to place the cards and the playerside field so other player can't see the card you are holding, if it's a chess game, people must be able to move the chess pieces easily with their hand above the display...) (ok I'm now learning for my next major skill so contact me if you guys are with my idea and I may bring some helpful connections as well)

This is amazing. Of course it's bulky tech and in time could get even bulkier with bigger more impressive games. I can well imagine these being in an arcade. The possibilities are huge.

I worked on this technology when I was an ONR Fellow in graduate school in 1996. The DoD wanted to use it for a 3D command center, 3D anti submarine warfare, 3D air traffic control. Also they wanted to use it for medical applications like 3D MRI, 3D PET Scan, 3D CAT Scan, and 3D x-ray. Finally they wanted to use it for 3D television. They called it the Boob Cube. It’s like watching the Super Bowl in an aquarium. When I worked on it? I thought it take forever to be practical. But I glad to see how it is now commercially available. cylindrical is stupid. it needs to be spherical . i don't know and i don't care how it can be achieved but for volumetric should be a transparent spherical shield without edges !
@joehick81027 күн бұрын
are there any thought on filling the container with slight fog? the light diffusion through the slight fog may fill in the gaps better between the pixel (kind of how old school tube TV's worked) might look different in person than on screen and I could be totally off the path, but that would of been my first idea.
