Some questions: 1) Client operating from her house: does she have a room in her house to do the training, store the hoists, basic life support training aids, a hospital bed as a minimum?; 2) Not really a question, just a comment on the CQC - the CQC is just a lamb in wolf's skin - they could do so much more to raise standards and stop money grabbers from getting into this business and profiteering by exploiting care assistants; by the way, unrated (new) companies have an automatic assumed rating as good; The simple reason for a hospital bed (and all other aids) is you need to train your care assistants - compliance requirements (moving and handling, among others). Outsourcing training can be quite expensive, in more than one way. It is also an important part of the onboarding process, it is a chance to assess applicants before launching them into the community - but that is a whole other conversation. As to the CQC - they are not doing enough, even after the latest changes. They are not doing enough to protect care assistants to be brutally exploited when they are on zero-hour contracts, not paid for driving time and time wasted between calls; they are not protecting the clients from getting their visits cut short so that companies does not have to allocate extra time so staff can get between appointments. But, then, that is how profit is created, right? I don't see a short term solution; long-term: professionalisation/PIN for care assistants? When companies start losing their licences for treating employees unfairly, maybe then the penny will drop.
