Compairing the marbles with the puuku is kinda dumb, the scanti grind with the puuku is fantastic for woodworking but suck for skinning and processing animals while the marbles one is the exact opposite, the only knife ive come accross that does both pretty well is a yakut knife my dads friend got me from russia many years ago which if your a knife person i suggest checking one out because its as weird as it gets when it comes to traditional knives lol

Great list Bryan! If you're interested in the Tibaldi Bononia or ASA Nauka shape, JEB Pens, another American boutique pen maker, makes the JEB Nanga in a similar shape. He also is exploring different pen styles like Conway Stewart models, BCHR-like engravings, and filling systems. I also have to shout out the US made Mabie Todd Swans like the Eternal 44 pens as very comfortable in the hands as well!

Thanks great video the pen bbs hour glass shaped pen is much overlooked, including in my collection, I think I will ink it up. The PFM that I have is truly a very comfortable pen, the moment I picked it up, I couldn't get over how it felt in the hand.

🖊️ Finally… a true fountain pen aficionado! I have been an FP user/collector for several decades & appreciate listening to another who also knows the ins & outs of these gems, particularly the vintage models. I originally clicked on your Conklin vid as I’ve recently acquired a couple Word Gauges. I enjoyed your knowledge so much I’m now playing through all your content. Thanks for sharing your expertise. Its interesting you chose the Kanwrite to show off the Day 11 ink from this years Inkvent. I recently got the Kanwrite Mammonth X. Size wise it's a little shorter than the Mammonth 9 and also a little shorter than the Ranga model 5, but just as girthy. It's definitely a very wet writer, and writing experience.

Hi Bryan, I just found this helpful video. I found recently a problem with the rod on my 1945 Debutante. The rod had been damaged, probably with pliers when an "expert" tried to remove the filling system or just the rod. The rod gets stuck halfway after pushing down, meaning it doesn't come back to its full length. Because the rod is no longer smooth. Would you try polishing the damaged rod with sandpaper or micro-mesh? I'm afraid it will be destroyed, break during the process, or become even more fragile than it already is. My first aid solution was to apply silicone oil, which is working for now, but I'm sure the oil will be gone soon, and I don't know if the diaphragm might be damaged. My second question, if you don't mind: do you know the exact size of the threads where normally that not cheap extractor tool fits? My guess is that a simple nut and a wrench would do the same thing than these rather expensive tools. I'm living in Thailand, that's why i"m asking for the thread size. Just going here to a hardware shop with trained and helpful staff isn't working, 20 years experience taught me that. Hope you might be able to help me out. Thanks a lot.

@@FountainPenWorld-z4i Hello. I guess that you could gently buff away that rough spot on the rod, that is something I would try. But, as always, do it at your own risk. As for the thread size, it is 5/16 x 36. I have never seen a nut in such a fine thread. Weirdly, though, I was able to find a tap and die. I considered doing what you suggest, but realized that for me the effort and the time involved was more than just buying the tool. Good luck to you.

One important thing to remember, every tool has a job to do, finns dont make these knives for self defense therefore they dont need finger guards. Always use a tool for its intended purpose. All self defense knives have finger guards even in finland

Regarding the Morakniv, your example knife is not the best one, the original Mora design goes today by the name "Mora Classic". It has a red wooden handle and a black plastic sheath and it is every bit the same as Finnish puukko in that there is usually no guard and the handle is simplistic without any grooves. When I was a kid (in Finland), this design is what was referred to when people said "mora" and it was so popular that the word pretty much meant the same as "puukko", they were high quality and very inexpensive puukkos from Sweden that matched the ones we were using.

I have that exact same knife as the first one you showed. The brass and leather is exact including the markings. As for the blade, mine has the elk also but the handle is a natural finish. There's also some writing etched on the blade that I cannot understand. I didn't know there was wood inside the sheath but I checked and there is. I acquired this knife and a Japanese Bowie without any info and through all my research, your video is the first match for at least one of these knives.

Amazing experimenting with urushi. I usually like a "basic" tamenuri, but your raden is cool too. I can only imagine how much time and $ you spent on this. Yes, the city in Japan where you could see urushi craftsmen that was damaged in the last earthquake was called Wajima. Beautiful small city. I hope the town will recover. Aloha.
