Great advice! I took the California Zephyr in 1993 and had a great time. My little toddlers and I had a roomette. It is definitely the key. Our food was fine dining quality and the steward was very good. HOWEVER my daughter has taken Amtrak several times in the last few years in coach and said all of your concerns were correct. It is freezing!! No real meal service available. And it’s like having 50 other people in your bedroom. I’m sad that you had to do your own beds. That is still supposed to be the steward’s job. But since Covid it seems the service has declined. If you ever get the chance the Zephyr is a wonderful trip. The scenery is outstanding. Great experience! Glad to have found your channel!!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that mushroom in my store. Haven’t looked. I’d love that because I hate tendons & gristle. My 22 year old son eats chicken wings & it’s just a stick when he’s done. He eats all the tendons & everything. 🤢. Wonder if it would be good dipped in like Hooters sauce or Honey Mustard sauce. 🤷🏻♀️

I am so sorry that happened to your Mom. Totally unacceptable and deserves a report to the hospital 's Patient Relations Department. When my Mom was sick before she passed in 2018 we would always take her to UNC Hospitals Hillsborough Campus down in Hillsborough. It is nice and not as crowded. Anything they can't manage they will immediately transfer the person down to the main hospital in Chapel Hill.

I don't understand why you wouldn't have gone home with her? Why would you stay in those conditions instead of being at home and comfortable? Don't you think you could've called and spoke with someone? Don't you think you should've taken her to a better hospital? If it was my mother, I would've taken her somewhere else the first day. She didn't seem to need to be in the ER. She wasn't hooked up to a machine, and she could've easily been taken home. Doesn't make any sense without more content. Seems like you out your mom through a lot of unnecessary stress for no reason as well as yourself. I guess none of this crossed your mind while sitting there for days.

We were waiting because that was the only way we could get her admitted to a rehabilitation facility that takes care of patients with dementia. Trust me we made a lot of calls at the time we were made to feel like if we went to another hospital every thing would start over. This is all new to us and learning the system when you have Medicare and dementia there are all of these rules and guidelines you have to follow Each day we were told she was being transferred to Rehab and then they would come back and tell us it won’t be until the next day.

I am so sorry your mom was ignored and treated so poorly! Thank the Lord you had the foresight to STAY with her because I'm sure having you with her helped her feel she'd be protected! Like you, I understand these are trying times and these medical personnel have been pushed to their limit repeatedly, are probably overwhelmed, exhausted, frustrated and overworked while increasingly short staffed and lacking enough supplies, beds etc but STILL, you can't let it get so bad that patients suffer! I am in my early 60's and disabled. I had a severe case of covid AND pneumonia in January of 22. Brought to hospital twice by ambulance. I live alone and had no one with me because they wouldn't allow it. I was left in the hallway so sick I could hardly function. Plus I'm hypertensive and diabetic. They gave me an X-Ray, a breathing treatment and some oxygen, had a nurse check my oxygen stats while walking maybe 6 or 8 ft. Then observed a while before sending me home by CAB even though I live alone on the 2nd floor! I had to call my neighbor because I couldn't climb upstairs unassisted. Two days later I was brought back and admitted after a short hallway stay. I was on high flow oxygen because my level had gone down and was at 74. They moved me to a treatment room then critical care. I didn't find out until reading my paperwork after I was discharged that I had "Respiratory Failure brought on by covid" and "Acute kidney injury brought on by covid." I almost died! Praying your mom is better!

Bless you and your family. We too have the same issues in Ohio. The Warren and surrounding areas have certain Emergicare’s that are notorious for this backlog. My daughter and I waited 14 hours with my husband’s cracked ribs to only find out that he was a trauma diagnosis due to his health issues. Tried to ship us to another local hospital but we refused and made the ambulance take him all the way to Cleveland. All healthcare workers are frustrated and overwhelmed but when your on the receiving end of the backlog it’s not always in human nature to sit quietly as your loved one is suffering. Sadly I see no improvements. No party affiliations care enough about us as they slink away to their quality healthcare that we have so conveniently afforded them. I say a prayer for all of us middle class Americans that are hanging on by a thread with no life jackets heading our way soon. 😔

Absolutely ridiculous! I would request an administrator ASAP! Not appropriate at all. My momma was taken to a hospital here in Florida. We thought she may have had a stroke. I new she needed a MRI ASAP. They told us they had a atleast 30 people ahead of my mom. She got admitted. I went home , they next morning she still hadn't had the MRI.. I was furious... I went as far up as I had to. I told them this care was Not the Gold standard and they r responsible for her, they told me their still backed up.. I raised holy heck.. well within 30 minutes after threatening them with legal actions, well well they got in for the MRI. It's so sad that you have to threaten them before they do their job. I've worked for a hospital before this for 18 years not in a clinical fashion But I do know what the standard s are and I also know there was no way their was 30 people in front of her that would've been life threatening like my mom's condition. So I faught like heck for her. My step dad, uncle n husband was in the room while I requested from tech, to nurses, to nurse mgr and so on. I went as far up as I had too to get my momma's care. ❤️

I just happened upon your video and I can't tell you how upset I was to see such terrible neglect. This is. No way to treat anyone, especially a senior. You both were exposed for so long. You are a God send. I went through so much with my mom after her stroke.. I had to learn so much so fast in order to be able to advocate appropriately and successfully as best possible. When mom was treated well, I would bring gifts of thanks and cards to remind staff members of how they positively impact those in need. I hope your mom and you are doing well and enjoying good moments again.

I had a similar experience when I was having heart problems and I sat in a room for 15 hours unmonitored. It was later determined I was in heart failure and had a blood clot. I am sorry for what you guys went through and your poor Mom. My advice to anyone considering going to the ER? Don't! They can't deal with you. Incapable! I am not trying to bash medical ppl but this is the truth. Go to a walk in clinic. You won't get care in the ER. They told me themselves they are terrible understaffed. They never did get to me. I ended up just leaving .On the way home just outside the hospital was a woman in her 60's laying on the ground and no one even bothered to help her. I know what happened. They granny dumped her. There is a lot of that going on too

I would have been pissed if this happened to my mother-in-law a year before Covid-19. After two days I demanded that the nurses get off their asses because they were sitting behind the desk and talking and gossiping and laughing while there were rooms available in the er and on the floors. I know that because while she was asleep I went up to the patient's rooms and was walking around and saw plenty of rooms available. There is no reason none what so ever for a patient old or whatever age to go threw this my mother-in-law has dementia and she was so confused and scared being in that hallway and they treated her like a child and were getting upset. I freaking lost it I'm I was a CNA for 10 years before I got my LPN and I will not excuse bad behavior from nurses and doctors I knew exactly their language. My mother-in-law had no idea what was going on. They knew better and I went off go ahead kick me out of the hospital your not treating my mother-in-law this way. I am her voice because can't advocate for herself and you're going to treat her like a grown woman even if she is acting like a child she is sick she has dementia. Yeah, no one will ever treat someone like this not when I'm around. No matter what they are the nurses and doctors should have acted like adults. Just because they are educated gave them no right to be mean and ungrateful. i will always be a voice for those who can not stand up for themselves I'm a Cancer I will fight til the end...
