The last 2 albums from Joe Dassin were covers of Tony Joe White songs (in french and in english), and Tony Joe White himself played music in these. But "the guitar don't lie" is basically an original song from Joe Dassin.

I have followed Iain Matthew music since I first heard his version of Woodstock way back in the late 60's when I was a sophomore at college. It is interesting to me how little Fairport Convention was followed here in the US. There was a strong fan base but it was small. Richard Thompson and to a lesser extent Sandy Denny get some recognition, but poor Iain seems to be a pretty much forgotten pioneer of this era of music of which Fairport was such a major force. That is very sad because his musical catalog is remarkable. He is one of a very few artists whose new release is something I would buy without even previewing it first.
