IMO, Robin being Lucina's mother is more powerful in this scene than if they were male and Lucina's husband. Here they hear from their own daughter's mouth that they will betray Chrom at some point in the future. And now their daughter believes she has to kill her in order to protect Chrom. And what does Robin do? They accept that this must be done. Because if it meant protecting Chrom and Lucina, there is nothing Robin wouldn't do. And as she stares down the blade poised to take her life, Robin's possible last words are to affirm to her daughter that she loves her, and that no matter what she trusts her unconditionally. It takes a pretty good scene and turns it into one of the most powerful scenes in all of FE, at least in my opinion.

I really don't like Hilda, she kills innocents offscreen and tries to kill her fellow witches, and when it's revealed she was trying to stave off the Moon Monster, she expects all of her actions to be understood. But they do not make sense. She doesn't ask for forgiveness, but still expects to be treated as a friend like everyone else. She's just dumb.
