Vous etes excellent organiste mr Latry et je n ai aucune.pretention , je suis organiste à mon niveau mais pourquoi cette improvisation macabre et antispiriturelle à notre Dame , pour rivaliser avec le genie de Js bach et d autres compositeurs qui avaient tout compris ????? Je suis deçu ainsi que par mr Dubois egalement! 😢

Excellent video, a privilege to listen to this class and the thoughts of the great man himself! Re 1.48, many years ago I sat on the bench with an Asst organist at Westminster Abbey whilst he played the service. He too played most of the service (well almost) on the Great organ, often with virtually no Great stops drawn. I asked him about this, he spoke about coming unstuck whilst swopping manuals during a fast piece, and wisely remarked "one less thing to go wrong!" Have been using that approach since.

at 35', it is absolutely not the Final of Vierne's 1st Symphony....!who makes those videos?And later, you say it's the Carillon of Westimnster, and them its in fact the Final of the 1st Symphony. Very amateuristic

Oh wow this was great, l learnt so much from this, the Maestro Olivier Latry is so generous with his knowledge and gentle in his advice. I had the opportunity to have a very similar experience with the brilliant Thomas Heywood . While the professional has time for the amateur then the organ will always have a future. They just make you think about stopping and analyse, listen , learn , and want more!
