I’m about to do the same thing: buying untested, unseen other than Internet research & reviews. Same color too - as it’s the only color in stock. Just trying to organize the barge/ferry to bring out to my super remote island location! Central coast BC, Canada. Lol

I lived just South of the GW while growing up. One of the story books in our school was, 'The Little Red Lighthouse'. Cute story on how it was dwarfed by the GW but still served a big purpose. I'll have to kayak that too.

Beautiful video. I make a lot of kayaking videos in NYC and other areas. I typically go out on solo adventures. I'm looking forward to watching more of these. Subscribed 😊

Those Virgos are for skinny people. Even the HV doesn’t fit me at 6’2” 240 lbs size 13 feet and 40” waist.
@ny69yh10 ай бұрын
Yup. Finding the right kayak to fit the paddler is always a struggle. I’m a small guy so at least i can pad my cockpit out to fit me. The Virgo fits me well though. No modifications needed.

Hi which is real weight? Thank you
@ny69yh Жыл бұрын
I have never put it on a weighing scale to measure the weight of my Virgo. I can only go with what P&H website tells me. There’s always plus and minus a pound or two. I personally don’t worry about that very much.

very nice! wonder how bad the tide current was. did you went south with the tide and came north by riding the high tide?
@ny69yh Жыл бұрын
Yes we went south with the current but got to the Lighthouse too quickly as the tide had not changed. So when we headed North it was a little bit against the current. IMO in this area the current direction doesn't really matter because of all the structures and headland. In other words, it's just a confused mess most of the time especially with the heavy boat, tug, ferry traffic. Have you paddled here or going to?
@caoeric7823 Жыл бұрын
planning to go in the next few weeks. had some bad experiences with out going tide in an inlet before. therefore trying to be careful. thanks.

I really like your paddle.. did you make it yourself?
@ny69yh2 жыл бұрын
Yes. It’s made out of Red Cedar. There was a paddle making workshop last year hosted by Christopher Raab. Paid US$125 and went home with a paddle! It is very satisfying to make one if you get a chance. Only issue is it’s one piece so harder to stow on the kayak.

@ny69yh3 жыл бұрын
This is a mashup of a few videos so the yellow/green one is a Perception Expression 15, the yellow on white is an Eddyline Merlin, the black on white is a Trak Seeker 16, and my friends were in a n inflatable tandem, Sea Eagle 473RL.
@Fishaholicboy3 жыл бұрын
@@ny69yh thanks for that! I’ve always been interested in the Trak since it’s foldable. We don’t have much storage space here in Hk so don’t have many options when buying a kayak. Anyway.. look forward to more of your kayaking videos

So awesome you get to see seals so close up
@ny69yh3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was! You're not supposed to go near them but these guys swam around and follow us! If you've never been, drop by Sandy Hook Lot C and /or Guardian Park all the way through March. You can see them from the shore (bay side); no need to be in a kayak! But that's way more fun!
