Look, I know Greg is a very unreliable narrator and your classic antihero. But he’s most definitely correct about one thing, Rowly’s parents definitely coddle him way too much, and Rowly for sure has some very bad traits. Come to think of it, there’s not a single character in this entire series who is ultra likeable. But that’s the beauty of it. All the characters are equally detestable, so much so that in a way it makes the stories more fun because you can hate on all of them. It’s all right. I hate on them. I mean they’re just fictional characters.

The kid that went with Rowley as friends to the dance, did he hold a grudge against Greg about the hot cocoa? Idk, I remember him looking down when Greg said that the cocoa was for safety patrol only and when Greg asked Rowley at the dance if he wanted to hand out, that same kid showed and said “Sorry, he has other plans.” As a kid, I just thought his tone sounded weird. I don’t know if Rowley told him what Greg did. Beats me. I could also just be overthinking it. I just remembered thinking that kid was weird because Greg denied him cocoa. Also, as much of a jerk Greg was, I couldn’t help but feel bad for him. Kids make dumb jokes and decisions everyday. Rowley’s anger was 100% justified but as an adult, I can’t help but cringe when they break up their friendship. I am happy they’re friends again and I adore Greg’s character growth throughout the movies.
