This is definitely not a radio collar. In all likelihood, this wolf is the victim of snaring; it has come loose but with the snare still around its neck

Totally agree! When I worked in the area and was checking cameras weekly, I exclusively used video. But once I transferred I am only able to check them every 3-4 months, so have been using photos to conserve battery life and SD card space. I'll need to switch back though...video is so much better.

Pretty cool how the one went through it, I've never seen that before. Deer are so cool, I think us hunters can learn so much from just watching trail cam footage.

Something i noticed, in one of my areas, was that mule deer always jumped over barbwire fences, but the whitetail would go under. Does obviously. Wt bucks would jump over too.
@averagejoefishing78334 ай бұрын
@@zzz7zzz9 That's interesting, it makes sense with how mule deer are able to navigate crazy rough terrain. At my property in West Texas they will scale a rimrock face in 10 seconds that you just took 10 minutes to climb.
@zzz7zzz94 ай бұрын
@@averagejoefishing7833 yes, them wiley muley. It's crazy where i've followed tracks before. But ya, with the whitetail, watch for hair caught on the bottom wire, from them crawling under. And i witnessed them crawling, sneaking away from me one time. I surprised a group, in a thick area. Close quarters, we're all within 10 yards of each other. I caught flashes of running away, and leaping away, then, something catches my eye, and it's crazy. A couple of the wt are down, crawling out of the area. Just when you think you know deer.......

It is my understanding that the variations in colour are the same as in humans, different melanin levels as determined by genetics. Black Bears can be black, brown, cinnamon, blonde, and even grey.

@@GhostTrailCams yes and I was quite tucked off at the bugger. It was an awesome new solar camera. Crow pecked and pecked and pulled for hours. I got a lot of footage. The camera fell into the snow and as we were not there for a few weeks the snow eventually melted and the camera fell into the foot of water off the bank. Uggh! Only really cool thing we saw was from above. The camera fell face up. Captured an amazing Great Blue Heron chasing a crow. I hope he got hi. Hahaha! Really was more upset because I know for a fact a bunch of wolves went through after finding a dead moose about 50' away. Not cool crow!
@GhostTrailCams6 ай бұрын
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid Wow! That's quite the aggressive behaviour for a crow...and the camera had quite the adventure of its own. Well I hope that doesn't happen again and ideally another wolf pack moves through so you can capture them on camera the second time around.

Another one that just goes to show- deer ( and most every other animal) do whatever they feel like doing whenever they feel like doing it. Either one of those deer could have cleared the top of the fence with nearly zero effort on their part. Seen em do it a thousand times. People today try to put human emotions and thought processes in animal heads these days 😂 Thanks for the video. More of these detached people today should watch it

What animal is that in the first few seconds of the video ? It looks like a ferret.
@GhostTrailCams10 ай бұрын
You're right, it does look like a ferret. It's an American Marten (sometimes called a Pine Marten) and they're part of the same family (Mustelids) as ferrets. They're pretty common around these parts, but aren't seen very often as they are pretty secretive creatures.
