I was lucky enough to see this train twice when I was a teenager I was ditching school and I saw her coming to our train depot in Indio ca, she was red white and blue, and I didn't know? who she was and then, I saw her years later in daylight colors, she doesn't know me but, I remember her.

At least, they saved it. There was no romance for Atlanta's two downtown stations; Union Station, (L&N, Georgia Railroad)on Forsythe St., and Terminal Station ( Southern Ry., Central of Ga., Atlanta & West Point, Seaboard Coast Line)at Spring St. Terminal was an architectural masterpiece, designed by P. Thornton Mayer. Both were razed by 1972.

For the center's 10th anniversary, the Daylight was steamed up and moved to the north yard for guests to see operational (as much as possible). The PA 190 was pulled back to cover the maintenance pit (a channel between the tracks for working on the underside of the locomotives) to keep guests safe. It takes 4 days to steam up the 4449 and they didn't want to move it outside until then.

Been waiting for another series like this. After the Empire Builder series, my wife and I hopped aboard from Portland to St Paul and back. First time on a long distance train. Now we're hooked! This November we have an epic trip planned. Taking the Coast Starlight from Washington to LA. The Southwest Chief to Princeton, IL. The California Zephyr to Sacramento and the Coast Starlight back home. Can't wait. Looking forward to next week's video. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing. I rode the "Empire Builder" (Tr #27) in 2005. We were into the Midway station on the advertised. It is sad to see the former Milwaukee Road searchlights being replaced. This line at one point had both searchlights and semaphores. I miss the Milwaukee Road.

@@michaelberger8137 It's provided by KZbin. If you pause the video there should be a "gear" icon and you can use that to change the video resolution.

@Fred Evad hmmmm, I'm well aware of the settings icon, but the last video had only 2 options... 360 which was too grainy and 1080 which, unfortunately for me, buffered more than it played.

Daylight won't be on these OPR trackage excursions anymore. This train was pulled on the south end by an OPR diesel and on the north end by the ORHF's UP 93 switcher. The good news though, is the Polson Logging #2 will be pulling ORHF excursion trains on OPR rail once a month during the summer of 2023 starting in March! :)

@@rileysanesh5203 the track takes a pretty big beating from it every time they run it, and it needs repairs every year before the holiday express. These repairs haven't been done recently, so the track can't currently handle the weight and length of the 4449 or the 700.

Minor nitpick in the description, 4449 isn't that last operating art deco steam locomotive, N&W 611 is an art deco steam locomotive in operation too.
