Hey, I wanted to let you know that an etsy seller named "indiepattern" is using your video in their sewing guides for poorly made patterns, combined with stolen preview pictures from the fast fashion website shein (which is why the patterns often don't match the pictures). They’re leveraging your video to show how to assemble the pages, profiting from work they haven’t done themselves. This shop is using fast fashion practices to exploit the sewing community, without having any sewing knowledge. I thought you’d want to be aware of this, as I’m sure you wouldn’t want to be associated with a scam. Sorry about this, and keep up the great work!

I know this is 4 years old, but could you kindly explain to me the positioning of the straight stitch followed by the zig zag stich? Are you zig zaging directly over the straight stitch or on the outside of it? Thanks!

Don’t use your fabric scissors on paper. Use paper scissors. I roll up my patterns and put them in a mailing tube. Folding up patterns makes a mess and you can’t iron them because tape.

Great video! With the cost of patterns ($19.99) this saves a lot of money. I remember when patterns were 75 cents! Been seeing since 1967 🤗🌷

This was super helpful for me. I have just ordered PDF pattern to make a custom Dress Form for myself. Whilst I have been given instructions on how to print the pattern at home, I haven't been given anything on how to assemble the print outs.

I do not feel secure about PDF because the numbers do not follow exactly like for that pattern for the piece you began with,you have numbers 1 to 5 and 7to 10. How come we do not see number 6 for the same piece ? The number 6 must be for another piece but how am I supposed to know that ?

I was at a lost. I was racking my brain on why my sewing pattern was not printing at the correct size. I measured everything correctly on Adobe but for the life of me could not get it to print the correct size. But when I saw your video, you stated some printers would need to be changed on the advanced. I did that and it worked. My sewing pattern is now at the correct size when printed. I am so glad I found your video, it helped me out tremendously. Thank you for all of your tips to help us out here.

This folding technique is a game changer thank you! I also saw another KZbinr, where to cut the perfect size pattern, measure yourself and "trace" or "add" where you'd need to adjust (you may have a medium size waist, but your hips may be a large size, for instance), so after you finish sewing your piece, it fits correctly. A lot of times we tend to just cut the size because we are small, medium, etc. size, but when you finish it doesn't fit in certain areas. Most of us are not an exact size, so this is an adjustment to think about before we cut the final piece of the pattern. I am tall legged, so most patterns I must add a few inches; I normally wear a 34" inseam length, especially if it is dress pants and wear high heels! And I also loved the way to store these types of patterns, G-E-N-I-U-S!!! I've seen these actually at Dollar Tree! ;-)

hello! im confused about the key part. is that for sizes? if so, what is the equivalent and is it a format for all of sewing?
@_commonthread9 ай бұрын
Do you mean the key printed on your pattern? That should have the different line styles for each size. Unfortunately there’s very little regulation around sizing though so it varies from company to company.
@rimasingleinny18719 ай бұрын
Ok i get it but id rather just do it old school seems faster
@_commonthread9 ай бұрын
Definitely faster to buy pre-printed patterns, but I honestly don’t find the styles I love from the big pattern companies so buying pdf from smaller companies works best for me!

Where was piece number 6? I'm so confused.
@_commonthread9 ай бұрын
I can see how that would’ve been confusing! I assembled each piece of the pattern separately. So page number 6 didn’t have any of the shirt front pattern piece on it, I believe it had some of the cuff piece on it. So instead of making one giant rectangle all taped together, I assemble each separate piece of the pattern one at a time. Does that make sense?

What printer paper did you use for printing it out?
@_commonthread9 ай бұрын
I use an ancient brother printer, I don’t think they make it anymore!
@996917 Жыл бұрын
I have a probably dumb question. Lol. If you I going to make multiple of the same item but in different sizes, I would need to print and cut for each size, right? So three separate patters printed out. Thank you
@_commonthread9 ай бұрын
Not a dumb question at all! I have had to do the same when making multiple sizes of the same item for my kids. What I do is assemble one pattern, and then use tracing paper, or tissue paper from the dollar store works too, to trace over the separate sizes. If I plan on using more sizes eventually, I’ll keep the big master pattern in tact and just create patterns of each individual size using the tracing paper. Does that make sense?
