hi, Would you please give an opinion between the CLP845 and CSP255, i found the keyaction on the clp845 hard (im 45 and my son is 5), and we are both starting to learn now. Is the 255 lighter ?
@RivertonPianoCompanyКүн бұрын
The CSP-255 has hollow resin keys where the CLP-845 has wood/resin keys. The keys are a bit lighter on the 255, but the down weight (the amount of pressure it takes to depress the key) is similar. Most grand pianos have a 55g down weight so it's important that you get used to a heavier action when you're learning. Otherwise, you'll be able to play keyboards and some uprights, but you'll have trouble on grand pianos. Best of luck to you!

Hi there. Unfortunately, we don't carry or support the FP-E50 so I can't give you a whole lot of information about it. I can tell you that is is not compatible with The Roland Piano App. It works with Zen Core. It does have built in rhythm styles that loop, but I don't believe it does what you're hoping to do natively. You'd need an actual loopstation for that. Hope that helps!

We are looking to purchase our first piano for our kids. We have narrowed it down to Roland and Yamaha digitals. Considering the GP609 and GP-9, which would you choose? The GP-609 seems like a really good deal right now, but does the GP-9 have that much more improvement to justify the cost difference? Lastly, is there anything in the Yamaha line that youd recommend over these two Rolands?
@RivertonPianoCompany22 күн бұрын
No question the GP-609 is at a great price right now. I do like the cabinet of the GP-9 quite a bit better and the new sound system is an improvement, but I'd recommend playing them both before deciding. Right now, Yamaha doesn't have much to offer in the digital grand space as their models are still coming out. ...and - even if you could - the Roland will have a better warranty, better bench, more features and newer technology for just a bit more money. Hope that helps!
@christianlucas655321 күн бұрын
@RivertonPianoCompany I would try them both, but none of us can play. We are purchasing our first piano for the family to learn. I know this is not a "beginners" piano, but I'd rather purchase one that we can grow into. Initially, I was looking at the Roland CG-1 from Costco, but as I've done more research, I think the GP9 and GP609 are a better value. My main objective is to buy one and be done. I personally play guitar, and that is my wheelhouse. Piano is uncharted territory, and I have zero knowledge/experience. I've learned the hard way with guitar. I've purchased more as my experience grew. Honestly, my journey would have been more progressive if I had purchased a higher quality guitar from the beginning. I think I'm hearing you say that between the GP609 & GP9, I can't go wrong with either. But from what I am gathering from your answer is you would take the GP9 over the GP609 if you had to choose between them? Correct? As I mentioned above, I just don't want to purchase a piano and realize later that I should have just spent a bit more to get a forever piano or at least one that will stay with us. The only other option is to purchase an acoustic piano, and that is where i was headed at first, but after considering my children, i think a nice digital piano would be more diverse and offer more entertainmentto keep my children encouraged to stay with it. Thank you for your opinion and quick response during this holiday season.
@RivertonPianoCompany21 күн бұрын
Hello again! It's a pleasure to chat with someone who has put this much thought and research into the decision. Congrats! That's really great. ...and yes. You're hearing me correctly. If money was no object, I definitely like the GP-9 better than the 609 because of its upgraded piano cabinet, new speaker system and haptic feedback in the key action. It's SO much better than any other digital grand out there. If you want to buy just one and keep it for decades, that would be my recommendation. Best of luck to you and your family!
@christianlucas655321 күн бұрын

Hi, I’m interested in buying this Roland MP-200 but I would like to know your thoughts on the Roland HP702 Digital Piano and the Roland HP704. Please let me know when you have a chance about which one is worth buying. Thanks in advance!!
@RivertonPianoCompanyАй бұрын
The Roland MP-200 is most similar to the Roland RP701. It doesn't have the modeling technology in the HP702 - nor does it have the 10yr parts and labor (in-home) warranty. It also doesn't have all the built-in music or the full-height back panel found on the HP702. For the VERY small difference in price, you should definitely get the HP702. As for the 704, instead of a stereo sound system, it has a four-speaker surround system with acoustic projection. Instead of hollow plastic keys, it has a wood/resin hybrid key. The 704 also has a duet bench and an upgraded cabinet with clips to hold your music open (or your iPad). Watch this video for a longer explanation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGa2eHR8gq6tjtk
@RivertonPianoCompanyАй бұрын
In summary, get the 704. It's the best "bang" for the buck with wood keys, surround sound, duet-width bench, premium cabinet and 10-year IN HOME warranty (parts AND labor). You're only going to get one. Get the one you'll love. ...and don't buy pianos from guitar stores. Nobody there knows anything about putting it together, operating it, connecting it to apps or troubleshooting it. Buy pianos from piano stores.

Basically, you just need a USB (A to B) "printer" cable to connect the piano to your computer. You can use Bluetooth MIDI OR the USB cable to connect to a mobile device. The piano plays both "SMF Format 0" and " SMF Format 1" MIDI files, but it records in "SMF Format 0." Thanks for watching!

Dear Rivertone Piano Team. Thank you very very much for your great work and your energy you are putting into those videos. We all very much appreciate it. They help us all enormously to get a better overview of the instruments available on the market and their qualities. I decided on the LX-9 from Roland a few days ago because of this video. :-) Unfortunately, I have to say that my LX-9 doesn't sound good at all. Since I'm a beginner and can't play any pieces myself, I played the MIDI samples (or demo samples) available in the piano memory. The piano sounds absolutely terrible. The sounds are mixed, they boom and there is no clarity. The piano sounds dull, really muddy. I also played with the piano designer and turned down the resonance a lot, but the corrections don't have much of an effect. So my question here: Are the MIDI samples in the digital piano generally representative of the quality of the playback? Up until now I'm only used to good HIFI stereo sound, but even with headphones the saved pieces are almost unbearable. Many thanks in advance for your tips :-) Best wishes from Switzerland
@RivertonPianoCompany3 ай бұрын
Hello and thanks for your question. Fortunately, there are a couple of easy solutions to your problem. Firstly, pre-recorded MIDI files use General MIDI (or GM2) sounds. These are universal sounds that work on all piano brands, but they do not represent the true sound of any one brand. They never sound as good as the piano's main Grand Piano sound. If you have an LX-9, you have a LOVELY instrument. The General MIDI sounds are a VERY poor way of hearing what it can do. Have someone who plays play it for you using the built-in ROLAND Grand Piano sound. It's a big difference. Also, you can customize the Roland sound in the Piano Designer section of the Roland Piano App. With some simple tweaks, you can adjust the model to sound the way you want it. In my experience, this can make anybody - from the most inexperienced beginner to the most demanding professional - happy. ...so - in short - don't use MIDI sounds to test the quality of the piano's sound and customize the built-in sound until you're happy with it. Have the company you bought if from show you how to do this and you'll be VERY happy with your piano!

I really like the ability to toggle accompaniment on/off for learning, and turn off one hand or the other. How big is the library of these songs? Is it free, or does it require the subscription? Or do you pay per song?
@RivertonPianoCompany3 ай бұрын
Hello and thanks for your question! The number of free songs included depends on which Roland piano you purchased. If you have an HP, LX or GP series, you'll have more than 300 songs in there. These songs don't require a subscription. If, however, you want to add more songs, you can purchase a subscription to The Roland Cloud. This adds hundreds more songs! ...and I think it's $30 per year or something really inexpensive.

How can I export my recording as an mp3 file that I can later edit in another program?
@RivertonPianoCompany3 ай бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching. First of all, if you want to edit your recording in another program, you should record it as a MIDI file - not an mp3. If your Roland has a writeable USB flash drive port on it, you can record the song to the flash drive in MIDI format, transfer it to your computer and edit it in any MIDI editing software. If you want to record an audio file, you can record a .wav file to your flash drive in the same way (just make sure you go into the settings and change your record mode to AUDIO before you record). Then just follow the same plan - transfer the song to your computer and edit it in whatever software you have. Finally, you can convert a MIDI file to an AUDIO file (.wav format) onboard most Roland pianos. ...so you can go either way. That said, there is no way to export a song from The Roland Piano App so - whatever you do - you will need to do it without the app. Thanks again for watching and best of luck!

Hi, Nadia, and thank you for watching our video! If you're looking for a better key action on a hybrid piano, I'd definitely look at the N3X. That's Yamaha's flagship AvantGrand and I think you'll like it alot better. That said, have you considered a Silent Piano? If you really crave that acoustic action, why not get an acoustic piano? With a Silent Piano, you can have a traditional "wood and strings" piano AND the electronic features that make the hybrids so attractive. That's my best recommendation for you... and stick with Yamaha! Their tech is the most reliable (by far) and you don't want to end up struggling through repairs with another brand. Best of luck to you!
