Perfect. I usually work on vintage bikes like old Yamaha enduros, but my VStrom was used for touring. This year it came up with a FI light and through research I found that I had to perform a procedure to make the code show on the display. Did all that and found that the problem was hidden under the airbag. I had no idea how hard that would be. Makes me appreciate the old 2 stroke machines. Very simple. Your video helped a lot.

Thanks mate. I fucking gave up on changing my coolant today and just topped it up instead. I didn’t know about the little bit at the end of the tank that pops off. Next time I’ll get the tank off properly. Cheers!

Wat if the gear selector doesn’t shift smoothly? Need to rock to shift into a gear? Is that usually worn clutch or far worse?

Good luck. There's a catostophic issue with a screw that wiggles of the n.s.u. and destroys the motor. Suzuki knows this but instead of correcting the issue from here on out they continue building the same way and make an upgraded part that you have to BUY and fix it yourself. By the way, it's a pretty invasive surgery. They wont bother with a recall.

Great work! Took me 2 hours to remove the fairing and put up the tank and 1 hour to put everything back together. For you its like 5 minutes. I was very careful doe and its my first bike so ofc I try not to break anything. Entertaining video. I dont plan on doing any work I just watched for fun lol.

Okay, looking up the part numbers of the 1996 and 2022 sprocket carriers and dampers shows they are the same. So you are spreading lies. Well, may get you views I guess? Maybe first of all understand two things: The OEM dampers are made of synthetical rubber. Which is a poor choice. Injection moulded, cheap, cry me a river. They do not mix well with petroleum products. The more chain lube you get in there the faster they will go. Great news: Since you are an expert you should know that some bits on your bike need attention, even if they are not explicitly mentioned in the service schedule. More great news: I never found the dampers to be a problem in the DR650SE (Yes, maybe try and get at least that right in your video)? Ask some one with an XT660R / X / Z or BMW F650 single or F800 twin. 10000km and the OEM parts are sayonara. In my DRs the dampers did 50000km plus before they had play and needed replacement. If you still are unhappythen go andfind someone (like me) who casts replacement dampers from polyurethane. They don't cost that much more (if at all), they are compatible with petroleum products (like chain lube) and they usually are a lifetime fix. While you are at it: Replace the sprocket carrier bearing with a fully sealed one. It's a single row ball bearing 6205 if I remember correctly. GradeC3, you need one with elastic seals which will have the affix DDU (Japanese) or RSR / RS2 (European). You can get it from every engineering supplier for something like three Dollars or order it from the Agri CoOp.

How is your rear sprocket f***ed like that after your claimed 1500 kilometres? The one tooth which is clearly visible in you video is pointy as in chain and sprockets way beyond their wear limit. I would expect that kind of wear in a set which did 30000km at least.

You don't need to cut that cable tie which is attached to the frame of the bike. Just depress the little tang and it comes undone.

Thanks for this video. I initially found it absurd to have to remove the tank and airbox to access the connectors, because the service manual says nothing of the sort. So I needed to see someone doing it, but nobody shows it, until I saw your video, confirming what I thought was absurd.

Got a 2023 dr650 this year and my Cush drive is just like yours after 2000 km now I’m worried about it locking up on the highway. Taking it to the dealer to complain. Stuff shouldn’t be worn out after 2000km

I just got an Electrosport and the rubber piece appeared to be bigger. Put it in anyway and thought maybe it would mash flush, but no I have a damn leak. Just found this video and see how you ground it down. Wish I had seen this sooner and made an attempt at doing that. Actually wish I had just paid the extra for a OEM Stator now. Anyway, thanks for the video. Sitting here waiting on another gasket now.

The GS rider backs the throttle off when changing gears. This is called "sandbagging" in drag racing. however in this case, it may be inexperience. I own a dl650 and a BMW1200. I know exactly which one is faster. Foolish video.
