Really cool car! However I would go for a Tesla Model 3 Performance, more power, better infotainment, more practical, better technology for <90k

MG has built a fantastic sports car, but sadly it's way out of reach for most people. I feel they would have been much better investing into the brand and heritage they purchased by building a well priced sports car for the masses.

Beautiful car, but at $115,000 seems way too expensive. Considering the car’s listed price in China at $75,000 ( the same as a mx5 in China). My opinion will be the BYD shark + mx5 total at touch over $100,000.

Too bad it's so big. Size and turning circle rules it out for my garage. Tow rating would be fine for my camper trailer but the range towing needs to be confirmed. Also I believe it is rated for slopes less than 30 degrees. Bit limiting for some off road scenarios. And no engine breaking for long descents Another worry for camping, especially while towing (ball weight) is the low payload

I think they’ve done a good job - it looks great at the back - quirky for sure but it’s not boring like every other car of this class. Also that boot is FAR bigger than a Forester? What on earth are you talking about - it’s even bigger than an Outback and that is bigger than the Forester. I know, I’ve owned both.

The tow capacity seems a bit low, would have thought at least 2 tonnes braked, seems to have sufficient power and weight, maybe it’s the hybrid bit the studs up the limits

I reckon this is more of a marketing exercise for MG. I don’t think they are after a sales target. It does look the business.

Definitely go for the standard suspension over the overly harsh msport suspension. It rides beautifully even on 19 inch wheels, and handles like a scalple on the raod. Love my 230i non msport.

The trio dash screen need a redesign. And the fourth screen need a better placement. The seat adjustment should be on the seat, not on the door. Need to go back to the drawing board And I would spend more for a Porsche Taycan.

Looks good from the front and side. Rear indicator lights, and scissor doors look stupid. The screen situation is so weird, what with the steering wheel getting in the way - you'd think MG would have noticed that little issue... In saying all of that, I _kind of_ want one?...

How much does it weigh and does it pass rollover standards, with those conventional rollover hoops designed for sub 1400kg vehicles? Don't rely on the fabric roof from saving you in a rollover

Great review, fabulous external design and EV power. It’s excellent in many ways but absolutely not perfect. The internal design could be so much better. I’d love to drive it, but not to buy it. Service intervals on the Cyberster are lousy, warranty is superb, but I’ll stay happy with M3 long range, it has all the performance and far more than I need. Thanks for a very interesting and thorough review.

For $120k d/a, the boot has the same carpet and plastic materials as my cheap mg4 51. The cable bag is also cheap nylon. 😂 My mg4 owner's manual came in a cheap zipped plastic bag, the same you buy in a $2 shop for your toothbrush and toiletries. I do hope the cyberster has a proper leather case.😅

The depreciation on this thing will fall quicker than a lead balloon, granted it is a nice looking car but at its price point they won’t be selling many, reality is if you are spending this much you might as well get a Porsche where you know the driving dynamics are going to be a lot better.

That’s fine. It’s a sports car in the minds of any human who thinks that a car that looks like this with doors like that and a roof that drops down and does 0-100 that quick. That’s me.

Well, yet "another" Chinese vehicle to hits our market, and to all those tools out there this is not a British owned or made brand. Design is subjective, the nose of this vehicle reminds me of something else, the side profile is also unoriginal and the tail is an unmitigated disaster. Being "fast" is inherent due to being electric, real sports cars are about serious handling capabilities and don't weigh two tones like this wanna-be thing, and in Australia we deserve nothing but the best and safest new cars, plus if this try-hard copycat doesn't come with a maximum 5 star ANCAP that's also a problem. There are usually some compromises with true sports vehicles which is fine but the heavy and impractical seagull doors are simply pretentious and unnecessary, the dashboard screens are not easily viewed and why on Earth is there a bulky handle-thing restricting access to the A/C etc to the passenger? I was hoping to like this vehicle but it's seriously flawed and shows that Chinese manufacturers haven't stolen the ability to build quality sports cars yet, well until they poach the right staff from European manufacturers. Meh

i agree, affordable sports cars have been a gigantic gap in Australia's market for decades. One thing that still p!sses me off is the fact that 85% of last gen Holden Monaro's were exported abroad, 70% to Yanks as Pontiac GTOs and 15% to the UK as Vauxhalls. Which is why they've been absurdly expensive on the used market here. When I was in California working as an expat around 2011, you could buy a used pristine top spec 6mt Monaro GTO with under 50k odo for $15k aud back then! They were not super common, but you did see them there, meanwhile always been next to hensteeth in queensland.

So many comments on here by people who obviously live in the big cities and can’t think outside of that box. This option pack is good for people who live in rural areas and travel on gravel roads a lot and also single lane bitumen roads where you have to go off the road and put two wheels on the grass. It’s obviously not for offloading. My wife doesn’t want to drive a full blown 4x4 but she would certainly drive this.

I was waiting for your review on this car, and it's fairly consistent which reviewers from the UK. From what you've and other reviewers have conveyed, sound like it's missing that original MG DNA. And as @volvot6rdesignawd702 has said, the Ionic5 N would be a better spend for the driving experience. That said, I do love the design and maybe in later iterations, MG will find some of the soul the car needs when you're behind the wheel.
