I attended Niddrie Primary School between 1982 and 1987. Mr Fleming was my teacher. Loved him and the janitor too! Played for the school team, etc… Even attended the 28th Boys Brigade in this school as well.

I worked there for a while, I remember Carberry Ward, Eden Day Unit, but have forgotten the names of the other wards. I used to walk miles as I worked on different wards and took clothing to the sewing room and documents to the main building. There was an underground maze of corridors that I was told was for transporting deceased pations to the mortuary. I was a fascinating building, and has such an interestiing history.

So this is the first I hear of Mary kings close. I looked up close... but this seems a lot bigger & nicer than what I would’ve imagined. It’s like an underground shotgun house if you will. Which just means same width from front to back. You could literally shoot a gun from front to back door in New Orleans shot gun houses we still have today. So we’re they homeless was Mary homeless or taking care of people ? I want to know more but when I look it up not much beside the rats & underground walk way

Thanks for the video, Ive posted it with the FULL story on dreamteamdownloads1(dot)com I visited this many years ago when it was first reopened, before it was all 'tarted up' for tourists. There was only a few other visitors & It did NOT look like the pics shown. It was VERY dark, dank, gloomy and depressing and you could feel an atmosphere of sadness and despair. It was also very creepy and our torches caused shadows which made it even moreso. It only cost £6.50 entry fee

i went on a tour here, the picture at 3:15 of the incline leading to the end of the tour. something tugged my pant leg, i told my mom to cut it out i dont believe in ghosts.. shortly after walking behind her (with NOBODY else behind me or wind etc) 2 much harder tugs pulled on the same spot as the first tug, i ran out ahead of the tour guide and others. short little story about this place, did i believe in paranormal stuff before, NO. after..... very confused.

Creepy to see this, but glad to say this is now my home (converted into 15 flats). The listed frontage of the building remains (complete with memorial in the garden and spire on the roof), I'd love to know more about the history of the building and surrounding area if anyone wants to share!
