The grey piece was part of the filter that came with the bestway pool. You have to remove the filter part with a screwdriver, there’s a screw that’s connecting the pieces. Once you remove the filter part you’ll be left with the piece I show in the video that connects to the Intex skimmer.

I’m not sure if you can attach a skimmer sock. There wasn’t enough suction power for the skimmer to work properly when the skimmer was running at the same time as the other vent. So we closed the other vent when running the skimmer if the skimmer needed to be run due to insects etc.

Hi! Thanks, I hope you you did too! We actually purchased an electric pump when we emptied it the first time (long story) It works great to get the excess water out once it gets lower than the drain plug. It’s a slow process to drain with a regular hose so if you can get one with a larger opening that’ll help otherwise a normal garden hose hooks up just fine. We also purchased a 2” flat blue hose to attach to the water pump and that thing really moves water quickly. I can link them for you if interested.

Glad to hear you got your algae issue under control. I have the exact same pool. I just bought a skimmer and I'm hoping I can keep the solar pad installed with it. We'll see. I heard you say your husband has backwashed a lot lately, which helped with suction and pressure. I too have been backwashing a lot but I seem to be getting lots of air in my pump. The pump basket often has a lot of air bubbles. I have checked the fittings, I have back washed and my pressure is good, not sure where air is coming from. Do you notice if you have air bubbles as well on a daily basis. I am curious because you have the same pool, if these is normal and maybe just a function of this pump/sand filter or does your water look smooth (no bubbles) when you look at your pump basket. Thanks
@thepoolmom8464
@thepoolmom8464 3 жыл бұрын
Pool Dad here: There’s always some residual bubbles in the very top of the basket. To get most of the air out of the basket I will sometimes loosen the basket while it’s running to force the excess air to be sucked out the sides. Once you do this once you generally don’t need to do it again. I also try to ensure that the gauge reads .4-.45 bar. Once it’s outside of this range I’ll back flush and rinse, brings it right down.

I am curious though, Do you cover your pool every night. You mention it keeps the heat in. Also I was wondering if you had any tips for getting it off and storing it. Seems like when we take ours off, we collect so much water in it and end up dumping any debris (leaves, twigs etc.) that was on top back into the pool. Again hoping we get better at it with time any tips would be appreciated.
@thepoolmom8464
@thepoolmom8464 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! We haven’t been covering our pool since the weather has warmed up here. We also disconnected our solar mat. Our water stays around 82-85 degrees without covering or using the solar mat. We don’t live near trees really so we don’t have leaves or twigs but we do get a lot of bees and other insects that end up in the skimmer we have. I definitely recommend the Intex automatic skimmer if you don’t have it already. What helped us with our pool cover when we were covering it was to fold it in half, carry it to the end, put it in carefully and then unfold it and pull it to the other side so it covers the sides completely. Then we went to the ends of the pool and gently pulled it and used the strings to just tie it off. It was never perfect but it covered most of the pool. You could try the same technique taking it off and see if you get less leaves etc. falling into the pool. Like I said we didn’t have large debris but we would pull a lot of water out at times that came with the cover.

@@thepoolmom8464 thanks for the tip. I would also like to get a skimmer. I watched the video where you removed the solar pad to help with your algae problem. Did you find the flow of water improved with out it. That being said, did you find the skimmer was able to suck well when the solar pad was attached. I'll admit I love that they included a sand filter but I had hoped the included pump would have a bit more power. I find when I put my hand up against the intake and outtake there isnt much flow. I do still plan on getting an automatic skimmer so I dont have to do it manually and so we won't have to worry about covering the pool so often. Thanks again

@@paulflogeras2309 once we removed the solar mat we noticed an increase in suction and output immediately. My husband also backwashes the pump when he notices the pressure on the pump rising and that helps. When we had the solar mat and the Intex skimmer running we had to use the included plug to slow the other outlet so that there was enough suction with the skimmer attached. Once we disconnected the solar mat we no longer had to plug the other outlet so both are open.

Hi Elisa, pools are a bit tricky and depending on your location, weather and how often you use your pool you’ll need to adjust chemicals. I have done some videos regarding what chemicals/testing strips to use to help with daily pool maintenance. As far as the sides bowing in, once the water is at 90% full the sides will pop out more. Our sand filter that came with our bestway pool from Costco seems to be working much better now that we disconnected the solar heater mat. There’s much more suction now that we disconnected it and since it’s warmer there really isn’t a need for it right now. Testing your pool daily will help keep the pool clean and clear. We use the Clorox testing strips and app and it makes it easier. We also vacuum and brush our pool daily. Good luck!

We only add chemicals if the test results say to add chemicals so it all depends on what your test says. Hi! We hired someone to level the ground and they used 2 plywood boards total and cut them accordingly for all the legs. The smaller square boards are about 1’x1’ and then the leftover longer pieces were put under the Ubars. I’m glad I could help. 😉

My husband actually setup the sand filter but I might be able to do a video and show the sand filter more.
