Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad that my support has helped you decide to add practical content to 金山孝之の部屋. I believe that the knowledge you present, supported by experience and skills, will be of great value to both beginners and those who have been practicing for many years. I hope to meet you one day and by then, I aim to have learned at least a little Japanese. In the meantime, I will continue to practice martial arts and learn Japanese. I am impressed by the skills this young lady has acquired in such a short time. The film also shows her great focus and commitment. I wish her all the joy and pleasure that comes with her progress in 剣術. Thank you for presenting the subtle details of the 水車 technique. It is the opening and closing technique of many katas in jojutsu. It's inspiring to see how thoroughly you analyze the movements, which should be an incentive for others to look deeper into particular techniques, and how passionately you share your knowledge. I really appreciate that. I'd like to suggest that we also present the names of techniques or things related to techniques in the video in Japanese and in hiragana. This will help build a relationship between the technique and its name, allowing for identity and identification for the technique itself and for the people practicing it. For example, in this case, the technique: 水車 (すいしゃ).

Mariusz, thank you for converting the Japanese video from your native Polish to English so that many people can understand it. I think the effort is much more difficult than I imagined. I am truly grateful. There was a time when I was pessimistic about KZbin, but now I realize that I was wrong. No, rather, I think that by involving more people, the probability of sharing values has increased. Of course, I think it also has to do with KZbin's management efforts. Feeling the resonance of our bodies in this way through KZbin was unthinkable when we were young. I do all the work by myself, which is why I feel so much joy. Direct interaction is deeply moving because it doesn't involve another person, and if we can meet, it will be a mutually emotional moment. In the past, I felt that ``training alone is not lonely'' in Japan, that is, practicing alone is not lonely, but now I feel the same way about the world. . I believe that what we learn from the body, depending on how we learn it, can be ideologically applicable not only to people in Japan but also to people around the world. Speaking of videos, like the woman who acted as the partner in the kenjutsu video, from my perspective, there are possibilities in the world that the person in question is unaware of. However, as I have seen with several students in the past, I do not know if they will be able to realize this and improve their mind and body over a long period of time. Finally, thank you for your advice regarding Japanese hiragana notation. I will add subtitles like that in the future. This technique ``水車'' is called ``みずぐるま''Mizuguruma. P.S. Poland has the best men's volleyball in the world. In Japan, men's volleyball has become increasingly popular in recent years. I am happy to see Japanese people playing active roles around the world in various sports fields. Have a nice day today!

Thank you for the detailed explanation about Noto in the context of this technique. Your description of the hand movement using the index finger to guide the katana blade (Ha (刃)) upwards is very interesting. I understand that this upward rotation of the Ha katana is a type of Chiburi (血振り). In my practice, the movement of turning the ha of the katana upwards is done with the thumb (similar to turning the jo in jojutsu when changing hands - 00:48 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIWqf3eFq86drpI) in the opposite direction to your techniques according to the unwritten rule "always keep the blade away from you", in the same way as you rotate the katana by lifting it before inserting it into the saya (鞘), where you also use your thumb for this rotation (08:09 of this Video). I will definitely continue to analyze this video, which contains many interesting and inspiring aspects, and I will probably have some more questions about it. The reference to your master, Kōno sensei, and the differences between your technique and his approach are also very valuable. Your explanations of how you developed your technique yourself based on the master's observations show how important an individual approach and continuous improvement of your skills are. The emphasis on the importance of the hips in the Noto technique is interesting. Your tips on shifting your weight from left to right using the hips and natural body movement are very inspiring and I see some similarities with the harmony of movement in aikido and aiki-ken. I also noticed that focusing on the hips allows for more fluid and natural movement, which is key in the Noto technique. When it comes to translating from Japanese into Polish, I think I'm starting to get used to it, and I think the addition of an explanation reinforced with an image has brought 100% benefit. I also believe that this new element of "practical instructions" may be very successful among martial arts lovers, which will certainly bring a lot of knowledge, experience, observations and will open the door to further discussion and exchange of experiences. It's a pity that I'm just a viewer of your channel and not a student. Thank you again for your help and detailed explanations. I'm looking forward to more materials and tips.

Personally, I was interested in this film, because for me drinking coffee is rather an activity devoid of reflection and celebration, although coffee has several health-promoting properties and I drink 3 cups a day. In my case, preparing and drinking matcha tea is associated with greater reflection, pleasure, and celebration, but for you, I think it is more of an everyday occurrence. I believe that this film should not lose viewers because of this topic, on the contrary, because in my opinion it shows what Miyamoto Musashi himself encouraged - to develop various skills. Let me briefly introduce this to others reading this: Miyamoto Musashi, the legendary Japanese martial artist and author of "The Book of Five Rings" (Go Rin No Sho), advocated for the development of various skills, not just those related to combat. In his book, Musashi emphasized the importance of versatility and flexibility in life, encouraging people to take a broader view of personal development. In addition to combat techniques, his philosophy also encompassed aspects such as mental development, creativity, self-discipline, and striving for excellence in every area of life. His approach to life was holistic, and his teachings are applicable not only in sports, art, and business but also in everyday life. I also appreciate the new inserts in the form of photos and text, even though the Japanese language is still a mystery to me, but I'm slowly working on it. BTW I looked around a bit on the Hario website and was impressed by Coffee Syphons - global.hario.com/product/coffee/syphon - which is something new for me. Thank you for sharing your passion and interest with us.

Thank you Mariusz! You're drinking coffee too, aren't you? Hario's siphon is great! This manufacturer is a company that specializes in heat-resistant glass, so they must be familiar with products like this. I would like to share diversity, or rather, various values, with everyone through the videos in this room. Of course, there are some things we can compromise on, but I hope you enjoy the changes as well. And finally we were able to decide on a plan. In the future, we will add a ``practical instruction'' corner to this video and include footage from the dojo. I don't know if it will happen every time, but I am able to coordinate the shooting schedule and dojo preparations within my schedule. I think that's probably what everyone is looking for, and if possible, I'm looking forward to this new corner becoming established by answering your questions. We will provide practical explanations on a wide range of topics, including kenjutsu, jojutsu, battojutsu, how to use the body, and posture. Your advice moved me that way. Thank you once again.

It's interesting how our daily habits can take on different meanings over time. While coffee has been a constant companion for me for three decades, it's become more of a routine than a moment of celebration. On the other hand, I've discovered a newfound fascination with green tea matcha. Each day, as I indulge in this vibrant green brew, it becomes a ritual of relaxation and contemplation - a time to pause, reflect, and appreciate the simple joys of life. It's amazing how a simple cup of tea can offer such tranquility amidst the busyness of the day. Your commitment to sharing diverse values and experiences through your videos is truly admirable. I'm excited about the new plan to add a "practical instruction" corner, featuring footage from the dojo. It's a fantastic way to provide valuable insights and demonstrations on various topics, including kenjutsu, jojutsu, and battojutsu. Your dedication to offering practical explanations reflects the holistic approach to personal development advocated by Miyamoto Musashi. I'm glad my advice resonated with you, and I look forward to seeing this new corner become established. I am certain that I will have numerous questions 😀. Keep up the excellent work, and thank you for sharing your passion and interest with us all!

Thank you for considering my comment on the influence of kata in martial arts on our posture, psyche, and daily life, and for incorporating the concept of Shoshin in the cognitive process regarding martial arts and self-awareness. Your insights were inspiring. For me, kata practice not only refines physical skills but also unveils new dimensions of martial arts and personal growth.
@Mariusz.Rosinski
@Mariusz.Rosinski 23 күн бұрын
At this point, I would like to add one more aspect. Cognitive processes in martial arts and daily life can be divided into two cyclical stages: training and practicing. In the first stage, training, individuals focus on acquiring knowledge, skills, and techniques through systematic learning or practice under the guidance of experienced mentors. Training provides a solid foundation upon which further development can be built. During training, participants engage in the process of assimilating new concepts, methods, and techniques, drawing from available training materials and gaining valuable insights from mentors or instructors. It is during these sessions that individuals gradually acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge, developing their skills and expanding their understanding in a given area. The second stage, practicing, is a crucial element in the process of skill refinement. Here, individuals move from theoretical understanding to the practical application of acquired knowledge. Through regular practice, individuals have the opportunity to test and experiment with different techniques, adapting them to changing situations and conditions. It is a time for deepening understanding, honing skills, and enriching experience through direct interaction with reality. Continuous improvement is a key feature of practicing. Through regular practice, individuals not only improve their skills but also deepen their understanding and sensitivity in a given area. Self-analysis, reflection on mistakes made, and systematic adaptation are integral parts of this process. In both aspects of life-martial arts and everyday situations-the continuous cycle of training and practicing leads to mastery and excellence. It is a process of ongoing development that not only leads to achieving goals but also to a constant pursuit of personal and professional perfection.

Thank you for your comment. That's exactly right. I was surprised to hear that it was as if he had been practicing together in the same place as you. Training is something we live in everyday life, and it is the practice of learning using the body as a teaching material.

Correct. I would also like to mention a potential pitfall to delve too deeply into one aspect of martial arts. When practicing martial arts, there are many aspects to focus on: striking techniques, blocks, kicks, strategies, tactics, physical conditioning, mental skills, and more. Each of these elements is important and may require separate focus during training. However, there is a risk that if we overly focus on any one of these aspects, we may lose sight of the main goal of martial arts. The main goal of martial arts, regardless of its form or tradition, often includes not only the ability to defend oneself in conflict situations but also personal, moral, and spiritual development. At the heart of martial arts often lies the idea of self-improvement, respect for others, and the ability to cope with life's difficulties. If we delve too deeply into one aspect, such as perfecting techniques, we may lose sight of these deeper goals. This can lead to situations where we become excellent technicians, but may not necessarily have the ability to apply these skills in practical situations or develop in other equally important areas of life. Therefore, it is important to maintain balance and perspective when practicing and analyzing martial arts. We should strive to improve various aspects, but always remember the main goal and significance of martial arts as a means of personal development and ensuring safety.
@KanayamaTakayuki
@KanayamaTakayuki 23 күн бұрын
That's exactly right. I agree with your thoughts. Being too concerned with demonstrating martial arts or conquering the enemy will disrupt your balance. I believe that what I learned through martial arts comes into play in how people overcome difficulties in their daily lives. However, I think that sense of balance is extremely difficult. In order to learn martial arts, it is necessary to be unbalanced in some way, and if you can control this from a bird's-eye view, you will be able to adjust yourself in a well-balanced manner and cooperate with others. There is an old Japanese proverb that goes, "A hawk with brains hides its claws."

Thank you for reminding me of the proverb 能ある鷹は爪を隠す that I heard many years ago. This is one of the ideas I try to pass on to my children, which emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balance between strength and modesty, between self-confidence and humility. This proverb could be the first contemplation at the beginning of each day worldwide.

Sensei, I have an iaito made of steel (weighs 1.078 grams without saya) and today I started analyzing and trying the Noto presented in this video. I started with the first technique and therefore I have my first questions. Let me start by saying that I really like the buttojutsu presented by you, I would like to thank you for these videos and I would like to ask for more. Questions: 1. I have a question about the adopted stance and the way of holding the katana before performing Noto kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6iWi3iknN2Hh6M by turning the katana's tsuka to the left so that the blade of the katana (han) is pointing upwards. Because the video does not clearly show how this rotation should be performed. Is it possible to describe exactly how to do this? Is there a technical name for this? Should it be a 180 degree rotation or a 90 degree rotation like in Master Yoshinori Kono's video kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHWskqmlpLp1kMk? 2. When performing Noto, before putting the katana into the scabbard (saya), does he also rotate the sword 180 degrees to the right or only by turning the wrist without any additional rotation kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6iWi3iknN2Hh6M&t =13s? 3. How do you guide the katana (mune) along the hand holding the scabbard (saya)? How do you recognize that the tip (kissaki) is above the koiguchi and that you can start inserting the blade (nagasa) into the saya kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6iWi3iknN2Hh6M&t=15s?

Thank you for your input on breathing control and muscle tension. It reminds me of my training in Goju-ryu kata, specifically Sanchin. This kata focuses on developing strength, breathing control, stability, and concentration through appropriate tensions and controlling the anatomy trains, particularly the spiral lines. By providing suitable tension in the line of the hips, abdomen, back, and up to the occipital base through the lobar muscle, it can help maintain a stable posture and perform techniques effectively.
@KanayamaTakayuki
@KanayamaTakayuki Ай бұрын
Psychological control is greatly influenced by posture. The important thing is how to grasp it and use it without forgetting it.
@Mariusz.Rosinski
@Mariusz.Rosinski Ай бұрын
Exactly. Posture plays a vital role in shaping our psychological state, whether in martial arts or daily activities. It directly impacts confidence, emotional regulation, and how we are perceived by others. By mastering posture, individuals can enhance their self-assurance, convey respect, and make positive impressions. This awareness and control of posture are instrumental for success, both in combat and in navigating life's challenges. However, we should not forget about the even greater psychological impact of the movement connecting postures during kata. During the execution of kata techniques, movement significantly influences a person's psyche by: Focus and concentration: Complex sequences demand full attention, aiding in stress reduction and enhancing concentration. Body and mind control: Precise movements cultivate control over body and mind, fostering self-assurance and emotional balance. Confidence: Performing techniques with determination and precision reinforces self-worth and confidence. Expression of creativity: Despite set sequences, there's room for individual expression, serving as a channel for creativity and self-expression. Relaxation and stress relief: Kata practice can promote relaxation and stress relief, calming the mind and reducing tension. In summary, movement during kata techniques positively impacts a person's psyche, improving focus, self-control, confidence, creativity, and relaxation. I also adapt my experience in the field of martial arts in relation to my son who is a junior soccer player currently playing in two leagues older than himself (1 year and 3 years) in cooperation with experts in the fields of sports psychology, mental, motor skills, technique and tactics , where I also translate the knowledge gained from these people into martial arts.

I would like to emphasize one thing more concerning katas/techniques that are a fundamental part of training, where the concept of Shoshin, or "beginner's mind," can be deeply integrated into kata practice. Here are a few ways in which Shoshin can be related to kata/techniques: Openness to learning: Shoshin encourages to approach each katas training session with an open mind, ready to learn new techniques and refine those already known. Lack of assumptions: Instead of assuming you already know everything, Shoshin encourages approaching training with the mindset of a beginner, ready to discover new possibilities and correct mistakes. Approaching without prejudice: Practicing kata with Shoshin means letting go of prejudices and being open to various interpretations and ways of performing individual techniques. Continuous improvement: performing the katas/techniques with Shoshin always seek to improve their skills through continuous practice and reflection on their progress. Focus on the process, not the outcome: Instead of solely focusing on the perfect execution of kata, Shoshin directs attention to the process of learning and improvement, finding joy in the training itself. In this way, Shoshin becomes an integral part of kata training, leading to a deeper understanding and mastery of the martial arts.

A great set of techniques/exercises for better feeling the movement and position of the hands in relation to the movement, position and speed of the jo as a starting base for future katas. I also believe that exercises should be a daily training routine. My first jo has just arrived, so I will start my jojutsu adventure with it. Sensei, please more such techniques combined also with body movement.

I got it! Congratulations on receiving your cane! Please try to face it from now on. Be aware of the movement of every joint, from the end of your arm to the base of your arm. Movements that make your shoulders cramp are not good movements. Depending on the angle of your wrist, the atmosphere of your shoulders will change.

I will definitely face it. When it comes to the mobility of my hands and arms, I hope they still remember the old days 😀 I think these techniques that are part of Jojutsu have names, right?

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your video and for your kind words! ❤❤❤ However, I am not sure that the translation made by KZbin auto-translator is correct because I had to read between the lines because the translation caused the context to be lost. It would be great if the videos had handwritten text.

In this way, when I think about the comments I received in front of the camera, I not only learn a lot, but also feel like I'm getting closer to people from overseas who I haven't met yet. Although there are still translation barriers, we would like to continue to establish this style in the future. (It takes time to enter characters, so it is difficult at the moment... Please forgive me.)

The problem is that the operation is maintained by collecting money under the name of promotion examination. I think there is a discrepancy between the essence of learning martial arts and what is actually practiced. I think that the world of martial arts, which is an exploration of the mind and body, should not exist in the same way as in a company where you aim to please your boss and get promoted. The great thing about learning by yourself is that you don't have to worry about unnecessary thoughts. That's what I said in this video.

@@KanayamaTakayuki I have absolutely nothing against paying for teaching that contains a certain "quality" and soul in transmitting it. I completely agree with you that the world of martial arts is a way of exploration and delving into yourself - your mind and body - and creating harmony between them. However, on this path you need a mentor-sensei who will indicate or correct the direction and support your development. It's like growing bonsai. The gardener wires, prunes to give shape, waters, and fertilizes to support independent growth. I think that the role of the sensei is the same - he is a point of reference, support, a guide that every student needs on his way of discovering the secrets of martial art through his own sensitivity, weakness and also his inner warrior strength that lies dormant in everyone. Everyone needs their own sensei on their path to become their reflection. I'm not an exception either.

I was struck by the bonsai analogy. Delicate care is essential to determine whether a tree can grow over a long period of time or whether it will rot and wither.

Personally, I often refer to growing bonsai because it is a fantastic art that illustrates and refers to many forgotten or overlooked aspects of life.

Thank you very much Sensei for these series of videos that perfectly introduce me to the world of jojutsu. He goes through the details of each position (although the hakama covers the feet a bit), the arrangement of the hands and the harmony of movement. This also encourages me to learn and hopefully practice jojutsu.

I have a first basic question regarding the choice of jo. What length (relative to your own height) and diameter is appropriate/correct?
@KanayamaTakayuki
@KanayamaTakayuki 2 ай бұрын
The length is 128 cm, the diameter is 2.4 cm, and the material is white oak. This is the standard for canes. If you are a particularly large person (over 190 cm), we also sell a larger size, but if you are smaller than that, I think it would be better to buy a standard size. I myself have acquired many canes, but once I got one that was made to order with the length and diameter slightly smaller, but when I used it in practice, it didn't feel very good. So, I gave it to a small senior woman who is practicing. On the other hand, I don't like the slightly larger one, which is the same length but has a diameter of 3 centimeters, because it doesn't feel like it fits in my hand. Please be careful not to use large or heavy objects to build muscle strength, as this will result in a result that is contrary to what is cultivated through Jojutsu training. Jojutsu training can be done well whether you do it alone or with a partner. In particular, it is perfect for grasping the harmony and flow of the whole body. There is almost no possibility of hurting your body, and you can clearly feel the performance or failure of the movement. Depending on how you use it, it can also be very effective for gymnastics and massage. (I also tell you this in my video)

Thank you very much @@KanayamaTakayuki Sensei for your detailed answer and advice on choosing jo. I am 175 cm tall, so I think the standard size should be suitable for me. Today I found it on the Polish market and ordered it (very close to the dimensions you provided), 128 cm long, 25 cm in diameter and about 450 g in weight, so in the next few days I think I will be able to start practicing based on your videos. I hope that my self-criticism and self-discipline will allow me to make progress in self-perfection of jojutsu.

That size would be fine. Please work hard while feeling the physical sensations, the slippage of your hands, the weakness, the flow in conjunction with your feet! The scenery seems to come to mind. We are responding to your comments on the video released at 9pm on Saturday, March 30th. Although it is a poor content, please take a look if you like.
