Merritt is one of the lumber towns that has also fallen on hard times, as the last big mill, Aspen Planers, is poised to shut down. Hopefully they can attract some other large industry to keep the city coffers afloat. Most travellers on the Coq don’t bother to stop in and spend $$. Safe travels.😎🤙

I love the free B.C. Hydro campground just outside of Lillooet.

Hwy 5a is a much more enjoyable scenic route than 5. Monck Provincial park near Merritt is a nice place to camp, lots of interesting birds and marmots to watch there, pretty lake setting. Happy travels! 🚙🌲🌲💨

The smoke is bad all over; even on the Prairies. Take care of yourself. If you can, find places away from the smoke, (libraries/malls/museums), & continue to stay/be cool! Kind of wild when you can't find salmon at the grocery in BC!
