I recommend using Schwalbe tire levers while lisntalling tanuss. it will be plug and play. ideally have the tire at room temperature, a little detergent and it will work. if I was able to put on the tire lever, anyone can do it.

Great Foes Ridgeback videos ! Is the toptube burlier in size than the downtube? It seems it has a slimmer profile. I'm torn between the mixer or ridgeback as my future bike, would you say the RB is a better uphill climber than the Mixer ? Thanks.
@brokenspokesMTBАй бұрын
@@JovyTactical thanks for checking it out!!! Top tube is two pieces of hydro formed aluminum welded along the top and bottom. From the side I can see how you’d get that impression but they are overall slimmer than the downtube. It’s funny to bring that up. I think mixer climbs exceptionally well for what it is, a big ass monster truck of a bike. I thoroughly enjoy that thing. The RB does seem overall more efficient pedaling due to its smaller travel. Depends where and what you ride. I love them both.

I don't quite understand why they manufacture in the US vs Taiwan/Asia.
@brokenspokesMTB4 ай бұрын
Lots of reasons. Quality control, supply chain mitigation, not being subject to the schedule of a manufacturer, quick design iteration, total control of the process start to finish to name a few. On top of that there's a pride associated with home grown parts, you spend your money on commodities made by people in the country you live in, your money stays your country, supporting those people. Notice I didn't say cost, but rather, quality. If they were chasing the cheapest option they might do what you said, but Foes is not doing that, instead focusing and producing the highest quality. Keep in mind, if more people bought smaller brands, like Foes, the innovation in the bike industry would skyrocket. Small manufacturers would have the capital to start trying new, novel ideas without being subjected to massive tooling costs needed to produce high quantity parts.

You are right about the single port frame cable configuration. It should be accessed on both sides of the frame. This causes the problem you mentioned with your dropper and the mess is compounded by your brakes being hooked to the wrong side of the bars. The rear brake should be on the left lever and wrap around the head and enter on the right. The reason brake calipers are on the left side of the fork is so you can route the cable up and over in a smooth arc to the right lever.
@brokenspokesMTB11 ай бұрын
As much as a sticking point as this might be to some, I have to say, this bike is the most fun thing to ride I've ever had. The cables haven't caused me any problems when I'm riding it, crazy amounts of fun, and there's always room to improve. Thanks for the view!

Good review 👍🏼 One thing I can say is that after ordering, building and riding several FM1001, and FM1002 frames (Carbonda) many hundreds of miles all over the roughest terrain of east Tn & western Nc… every negative that you’ve mentioned here about the FM936 is not so with these others. Seriously we are loving them, especially for the money, and beating the crap out of them while enjoying the benefits of more modern geometry! I set the FM1001 up with a 150mm Lyrik Ultimate fork & Super D Ultimate shock. I’ve also set up the FM1002 with 160mm fork. Oh, and you can easily slide lightweight foam pieces down into the frame with the fork removed just fyi.

Wont the additi9n of more air reduce the bottoming out problems? Yes at a a cost (harder ride) but going up in air pressure seems logical to me
@brokenspokesMTB Жыл бұрын
Excellent suggestion! However the root cause of the bottom outs was just riding the bike harder than it was designed to do unfortunately. Going up in pressure took away from the excellent ride feel for the other 99% of the ride. In the end, it just wasn't the best bike for my riding style or area. Loved it when I had it built up!!!
@hrbrchenko7 ай бұрын
Actually adding some volume reducers fixed the problem for me. It's still sensitive for small bumps but much harder to bottom out on bigger features.
@williammorris4419 Жыл бұрын
Resale value is actially a non issue often.. because rhe frame itself is less than a grand new.. and if you build up a new frame, you can use the components from this bike,, like the wheels and crank and fork if those are expensive items. Your sale of just the frame is maybe 400 -500 bucks maximum.. so you can buy a new frame and have another fun project and good performance bike with what you make for the sale of that frame plus a few hundred bucks.
@brokenspokesMTB Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the view!! Resale is something to consider, I might value it more than others, but it's a consideration. On top of that, selling a non branded bike as a frame is going to be tough to do. IMO, people who know what components they need typically would rather spend an extra few hundred (as you alluded to in the sub 1k frame price) on a new frame than risk it on a used bike like this. In the end, it was a $1000 experiment that I absolutely loved and most of the components live on with the bike I replaced it with. Thanks again for the view and I may take advantage of all these sales and get the ole Carbonda up and running again this winter!

Thanks for the view! Eh, I'm not either of those sizes, I can take people's word that they prefer something different but I won't speak on their behalf. Alright, so somewhat lengthy response and you're putting me on the spot!! If I had to choose 1, I'd choose the RB. The RB is incredibly capable and still maintains a really fun feel on everything from more mellow trails to rough chunky single track. The Mixer would be the ideal bike if I rode sustained gnarly stuff a lot more. Mixer is so freaking fast when pointed downhill but can be a lot of bike on more mellow trails. The more I ride the RB the more I love it. Having a wildly capable trail bike has been an absolute blast on everything from mellow trails to higher alpine chunk. I'm a better rider because of that bike not allowing me to just plow over everything. Now that said, the Mixer still maintains a really responsive ride feel for a bike with 160mm of travel. Nothing beats that big bike plow feel! I have one for a reason and really enjoy riding it. Last note, I'm now fully convinced most people need 130/140 trail bikes rather than the 160/170 Enduro sleds that populate so many trail heads. A well built 135 can handle most anything you throw at it while still being great to pedal around mellow trails.
@guinness3227 Жыл бұрын
@@brokenspokesMTB Darn it, was afraid you were going to say the RB...lol. I figured that would be a tough decision as I actually own and absolutely love my Mixer. But I've been interested to try out a full 29er trail bike for a while now and I agree with what you're saying - the RB would probably be better suited for the trails in my area. @@guinness3227 it’s my honest take, however, I do have something coming up. The RB has really changed my riding style and I couldn’t be happier.
