Thank you for the excellent video. It is a great help to a lot of us. Do you know the ID inside diameter of the Catalytic pipe that goes over the resonator pipe? It looks like it is about 2" from the video? The OD size of pipe from my resonator is 1 3/4" on 2007 Prius. Some people say we might need an adapter. Thanks
@clinthecht3 ай бұрын
unfortunately I do not know the dimensions inside/out of the pipe.. The prius in the video is an 07 and everything in the kit made the fitment just fine.

Just for clarification purposes, my 2015 Rogue SL (not the Select) has the fuses under the cover on the side of the dash where it touches the door. I plug my scantool (Actron CP9135) in and I have power, but it keeps reading "link failed". I know the OBD port works as I was able to get codes pulled at the local AutoZone store. This scanner will not work with my Rogue. Just wanted you to know that my model does have the fuses where you said.

Did you use the donut that came with the Autosaver cat? I'm getting ready to change mine all out since I bought mine with a "custom" exhaust. I wound up getting from the manifold out minus the cat at the yard since they had a 50% off sale, just to be safe. Mainly, the manifold had the AF sensor that's at least not connected on mine. I haven't gotten underneath to see yet. 30 day returns also on the yard parts. I went with a Denso OEM downstream cat just to be safe. Mainly, was wondering if that aftermarket donut has improved so is OK to use as some wrote on prius chat to re-use or get new OEM Toyota. Thanks for sharing! Great video.

I just had my cat stolen out of my 2008 Pruis and wish I didn't live in California (another checkmark in the box for leaving the state) so I could have an aftermarket cat option (CA is the most rigid on this and you have to get the replacement from the dealer, $2,500 plus). Great video though.

The catalytic converter theft on my 2008 prius has brought me to this video.. thanks for sharing your experience. I chuckled when you explained the drag racing engine sound from firing it up, I remember when I turned my prius ON for first first time after theft that sound and thinking oh no!

Good tip for using extension to push bolt with spring on. I was struggle by using my fingers. Also I will try to align the catalytic converter why tighten those two bolts to make sure it's mount wraps around the donut gasket evenly.

Thanks very much for this!!! It saved me a lot of money and I feel much more capable. FYI, I'm in Tucson and I found a Cat at Autozone for $700 but returned it after I found one on Amazon for $130. Autozone wanted $177 for the O2 sensor but I found it for $31 on Amazon. I own a Honda Element and a Prius. Those are the two top targets and both of mine have been hit in the last six months.

Hi good video. I have a couple questions. There is a rear nut holding the top long bolt. I undid the bolt but as you might guess, it fell off when I did this and was lost forever. Now to get it back in I had to get another bolt except there's no way to hold it on. Although I guess if you remove the power steering pump you could access it, yes? I figured I'd jb weld the nut on anyway just to be safe since I don't want to lose a nut again. 2nd question is I tried dry fitting the new unit but for the life of me, i cannot get it in.what is the trick to get it back in? I know the old and new units are identical so it's not that.

@@clinthecht yeah it's Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1. I know sometimes cars can be picky with aftermarket cats and that can still cause a check engine light to stay on. Would that be the case with this aftermarket cat or is it high quality?
@clinthecht2 жыл бұрын
@@devicetrickz our check engine light will come on every so often for the same error.. however even after replacing both o2 sensors the cel came back within 10 minutes.. that being said it will also randomly turn off and stay off for weeks at a time. I think we have an electrical issue somewhere more so than the cat doesn't work. If it was the cat I'd assume the light would always be on

Couldn't I use some "high temperature" silicone and the clamp to seal between the cat and exhaust?

I don't see why not.. just make sure the high temp silicone will withstand the 100's of degrees exhaust can get up to.

All of the tools that we used to complete the job are listed at the very beginning of the video.. They are laid out on a table. None of those tools were included in the items purchased from Amazon. All of the bolts/screws should have been existing on the car and/or come new in the packaging (assuming you bought the exact parts we did).
