Nothing like a British accent to narrate a mean spirited hit piece against Russia. Without which Abkhazia as a country would not exist today, nor would its economy.

1. The voice is an AI one that just so happens to have a British accent. 2. The owner of the site and the channel lives in the UK. He's done interviews where he has a clear British accent. 3. Abkhazia persevered through 15 years of a blockade instituted by Russia. It will outlast Russia and so will its people.

linguistic anthropologists should be able to conclusively clear this up. if the evidence of abkhaz language features demonstrate only 300 years of development apart from sister language circassian, the case is arguable. but if not: then what gamsakhurdia said should be accepted an non-factual and everyone should try to update their beliefs to the anthropological evidence, rather than their feelings, is my thought anyway.
@AbkhazWorld
@AbkhazWorld 2 ай бұрын
I assume you think that the Abkhaz and Circassian languages are very similar, and that two people speaking them can understand each other easily. We are talking about two different languages, not dialects. They are simply part of the same language family. You are probably referring to the absurd thesis that "the Abkhazians are actually Circassians who came to the Caucasus in the 17th century, assimilated the real Abkhazians - meaning the Georgians - and took their name. " By the way, the Abkhaz language was recorded by Evliya Çelebi in the 17th century. The process of a language splitting into different languages is complex and can NOT happen in just 300 years. It takes at least several 300 years, if not thousands of years. For example, Latin was spoken about 2000 years ago and gradually evolved into several different languages such as French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, and Romansch. This process occurred gradually over many centuries and was influenced by factors like political changes, geographical isolation, and linguistic innovations. Also, not only Abkhaz and Western linguists and historians, but also specialists like Ketevan Lomtatidze and Arnold Chikobava have provided evidence presence of Northwest Caucasian linguistic roots in toponyms and hydronyms stretching from northeastern Turkey to western Georgia. In her 1944 study on the Tapanta dialect, Ketevan Lomtatidze writes: 'Based on linguistic facts, we show the relationship of these tribes with the tribes associated with them, and these linguistic facts lead us to believe that the Tapantas existed in the mentioned territories long before the 17th century.' apsnyteka.org/1660-lomtatidze_k_tapantsky_dialekt_abkhazskogo_jazyka.htm Another quote from The Rise and Fall and Revival of the Ibero-Caucasian Hypothesis Historiographia Linguistica Vol. 35:1/2 (2008), pp. 23-82, by Kevin Tiute "As for Abkhazia, no one questioned the presence of ethnolinguistically Abkhazian tribes along the eastern Black Sea coast since ancient times, a belief reinforced by references in Pliny the Elder, Arrian and other Greek and Roman sources to tribes whose names contained the roots Abasg-/Abask- and of the Abkhazians).43 Furthermore, Janašia (1940) found what he interpreted as evidence of an Abkhaz-Adyghean substrate both within the borders of modernday Abkhazia and further south and east in what is now Georgian-speaking territory. Among the toponymic elements of Northwest Caucasian origin identified by Janašia were the suffixes -ps-/-pš-, meaning “water, river” and -q’va “valley”. River names including these elements are found as far south as Guria (Supsa) and Ach’aria (Ač’q’va). The hypothesis that Abkhaz-Adyghean speakers were among the ancient inhabitants of western Georgia received the support of Marr (1930) and Čikobava (1948: 263), and indeed is compatible with the supposition, expressed by Javaxišvili (1960: 401-417) and Kavtaradze (1985), that the remote linguistic ancestors of the Georgians came from further south." Finally, before the 10th century, the liturgy in cathedrals in Abkhazia was conducted in both Greek and Abkhaz. Unfortunately, none of the liturgical service-books from that period have survived. However, there is an indirect indication of the theoretical possibility of some literacy in Abkhaz in older times. This is mentioned in "Vita Constantini," a 9th-century work devoted to the life of Cyril (the creator of the Slavic script), which refers to the Abasgians (Abkhazians) among the peoples (Armenians, Iberians [Georgians], Goths, etc.) as having an alphabet and Christian service in their own language. Additionally, the Abkhazian Kings corresponded with Patriarch Nicholas Mystikos of Constantinople, indicating that the Abkhazian Church likely had its own liturgical service-books, which have since been lost due to the decline of Christian culture in the region.

@@AbkhazWorld on the contrary, i don't believe in the 17th century viewpoint, i think it's erroneous. the differences in liguistic development in the two languages demonstrates thousands of years of separation, so we agree
