Cool revolver. I wish they made more of those types today. Thanks for showing. Be careful dry firing that gun. I'm no expert but dry firing can mess up the firing pin on some older revolvers.

Smokeless or black powder 32sw?
@brasswilly8 күн бұрын
It is marked "32 S&W" which is a SAAMI spec round loaded to the same pressure whether you use black powder (around 9 grains) or smokeless powder (around 2 grains). 32 S&W has loaded with been smokeless since 1940.

What you got is a S&W Model 2, Series 2. Got one myself when I was trying to collect as many single action S&W as I could. Yes it is chamber for the .38 S&W. Got all three series for the S&W Model 1 1/2 (long story why they were call Model 1 1/2). The Model 2 Series 1 was called the “Baby Russian” due to the resemblance to the larger frame Model 3 chambered in .44 Russian making it highly collectible while the Model 2 Series 3 is rare and I’ve never found one for sale in all the years I’ve been looking. This model was a popular pocket pistol due to the more powerful .38 cartridge instead of the smaller caliber guns, Model 1’s were .22 rimfire while the Model 1 1/2 were .32 Short rimfire, .32 Long rimfire, and .32 S&W. In my collection I also have the cartridges and reloading equipment for these guns. I’ve given up on getting more for my collection so the ones I have are in a display case that I look at on occasion.

The Glock 19c has the worst sights to see through at night. Adding a night glow iron sights is a must
@brasswilly28 күн бұрын
Ever hear of a flashlight? Night sights are a talisman. If you can see your night sights, it's too dark to have positive target identification. Their main use is helping you find your gun in the dark - that's it. A dot is a dramatically superior option for low light shooting; which is why I milled this gun for an RMR. I have shot several low-light competitions - there's no comparison between using a dot and iron sights in low light. Everyone with a dot outperformed everyone with iron sights.

From helpful viewer Mark F. - "Dear Sir, your pistol is not a Llama Model I. The biggest giveaway is that the Model I had no grip safety. This model is a Llama XA, manufactured from 1951 throu 1954. Your video link featured a fellow who didn't know what he was talkng about. Besides the model error, he didn't know what the markings on the frame signified On the left side, just above the trigger, are proof marks plus a "V." The "V" is a date code indicating that your pistol was built in 1951, This also designates it as an XA. This pistol also featured a small base magazine. One other mistake that video made was stating that this pistol was identical to a 1911 pistol. 1911s are recoil operated, while the Llama .32s were all blowback operated, a significant difference. I hope you find this information helpful.. Best of luck with your auction. --Mark F."

I was just gifted one of these guns last week from my inlaws. Mine was stamped Monitor on one side. Crescent wasn't marked on the gun anywhere. Best I've found is that H&D folsom owned crescent firearms from the early 1890s to early 1930s, and they would stamp them and name them whatever they wanted.

With all due respect to KIMBER, I have in the past purchased a KMBE CUSTOM and it failed to cycle any round configuration resulting in a jam every time. I kept hearing it was my grip on the pistol/ I sent it back to the factory in which they tuned the pistol., it still did not cycle well, even though a little better but only with ball ammo. I loaned the pistol to a professional shooter who owned five KIMBERS with no issues and he could not get the pistol to function properly. Forget any make of hollow point ammo - complete failure every time. Finally, after several months KIMBER replaced the pistol. The second pistol resulted in the same experience. So, I employed a local gunsmith to try to "fix" the pistol. He could not gain any success; still resulting in frequent jams with ball ammo and total failure to cycle with any hollow point. This was a financial loss in that I could not sell the pistol. I have since purchased a KIMBER RAPTOR all steel pistol. Even though, so far, I have not experienced any failures with ball ammo, it will only cycle Remington Golden Saber hollow point ammo. All other makes of hollow point ammo will fail to cycle resulting in a jam. I am almost afraid to use tis pistol as a carry option.

Charter Arms has evidently been updating their machining equipment to modern CNC stuff, and have been getting much better tolerances, consistency, and quality (according to Gun Blast)... as they have been able to afford it, without much of a price increase at all. Good news for people.
