In my opinion, the MODERN (over the past 2 generations) version of Sony and the kinds of games they produce just don;t readily lend themselves to a party platformer... Not in their function, nor the tones of the characters and franchises they belong to. Nintendo is a universe FULL of adorable mascots, platformers, and characters that mostly lend themselves very well for what Smash is going for. Yes, there are SEVERAL outliers, but quite often the most notable thing about their inclusion is that they're an odd or unexpected choice.... And they often end up being a little OP because they actually fight for a living and are hard to reign in with a mostly non-combat based roster of characters. But Sony just isn't a very kid and family-friendly good ol' time. I know everyone will say Astro Bot... But that's the exception. Don;t believe me... When is the last time pre-Astro Bot that Sony released a BIG BUDGET E-Rated game? Probably not for the entirety of the PS4 /5 lifespan. POINT BEING... They should do something else... Not a smash clone. There are already too many Smash clones, and the market is niche. We do not need another Concord fiasco... Where Sony is 10 years late to the party and no one buys it because it's late AF, AND it's just not what the audience that Sony has cultivated expects or wants. IN MY OPINION, if they are going to go down a crossover/multiverse route... Either make a 3rd person action-adventure game... Seeing as that's 99% of what Sony does/makes billions off of nowadays... OR make a REAL fighting game. Maybe a 2v2 tag game featuring Sony characters.

The thing is Square is that they are alway the easiest company to work with they are very stingy about what people are allowed to use. That probably was the reason they weren’t able to use Cloud. It wasn’t for the lack of trying. I heard that super bot wanted to make a new game and I guess Sony said no.

They wanted to but they weren’t able to. What you and other people don’t understand about licensed games is that it as easy as wanting to include characters there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get characters.
