Don`t look to me like someone prepped the truck for the conditions.

This is where a big old bulldozer would come in real handy say a Caterpillar D8 series or even a D6M model would have done the job.

My county in Michigan uses V - plows on the drifted dirt roads but there plows are much taller in the center and flare out farther at the top edge and they literally throw the snow 30 to 40 feet and rarely get bogged down in the drifts .

Needs to be done with a snowblower

Graders are used in Montreal and Quebec fro snow removal. A snowblower would have cleaned the road faster.

Why was there so much snow that was so hard? Was it not cleared for days?

Need to windrow the snow in the fields next to the road to create snow fences , you will never keep the road open without a lot of work ! It's done in the west in the snow and wind county , really works great !!
@rblueroan22058 сағат бұрын
I was about to mention this , I’ve built many a mile of windrows used as snow fences , after each blow we’d go back and push that snow up , those windrows would get pretty deep , we’d usually put in several rows if there was room enough

Moved 4 years ago from up North can truly say I don't miss The Drifting snow .In my 70s now and I live in South Central Indiana maybe an inch of snow .

When the snow blows for a couple hundred miles, it gets tired and needs to sleep. We get that same stuff here in Saskatchewan. The higher the banks, the deeper the drifts.

Looks like a snow blower would be more effective on those biggest drifts. And snow fence

Vegetation next to road as a snow block . For some reason they cut it all down even on my country rd.and that's the results.

@roberthooper22429 сағат бұрын
Problem is ,it takes a big ass pile of money to buy a big ass snowblower, many of these small municipalities don't have that big ass pile of money so they do with what they have.

Good video, thanks. I've never seen a grader used like this before. And also the truck taking run-ups to crash into the snow was quite something.

I’m in Ontario south of Georgian Bay on the Niagara escarpment. The county uses the grader with the vee plow quite often. In the early 80’s we were snowed in for 8 days. The grader kept working at the drifts but the wind would blow and fill in behind him. The local farmers helped with their tractors and snow blowers, gave the grader diesel fuel. The operator would sleep in the grader whenever he was tired and plowed when he was awake. We have pictures of us looking down on the roof of the grader, the snow banks were higher than the grader. Eventually the wind let up and the county brought in big blowers to open the roads. My dad would take the snowmobile to town for groceries. Fun times

This is crazy to 👀. Thats a tough old truck to put up with that. Modern trucks wont last doing this.

Lol that's incorrect depends on which modern truck you're talking about. Technology has not devolved in the last 50 years it's the opposite.
