Nope, this is just a description of MBO, it misses the original intent of Andy Grove's creation.

I love this, although going into sprints, I realise that a lot of our "Understand" phase involves research that would take weeks to months to acquire the right data that could drive us to make the right decisions. In saying that, I would advise anyone to ensure you have the data on hand before embarking on the 5-day sprint.

Hi, probably a bit too late for comments, but if OKRs are not used in annual performance evaluation, how else do you measure performance? Do you have OKR's and then another separate set of metrics to measure performance?

If design sprints actually worked, why don't we do design sprints every week for our entire product. Answer: you'd get burn out because it's not a good sustainable process. It requires people to take shortcuts and cut corners. I get the idea of not spending months designing something that won't work, but design sprints are abused by the business as a way to force designers to work faster. I hate them.

this is a great talk. at the end an important point is made: when it comes to delighters, it's binary, and you want to be differentiated. i see a lot of social media companies doing the same thing, but when there is no differentiation, there is no "must have" feeling. instagram or snapchat stories are pretty similar. the algo feed and content creators does vary. maybe there are fewer "must haves" in the modern era, because FB showed that copying works well.

"You might think you need to come up with a lot of brilliant new ideas to solve your problem, but that's not actually true. If you look at any great innovation it's actually built on remixing old ideas" <-- love this, great quote

One of the biggest challenges with this process is that you are counting on your team to identify the patterns...If you have a team that isn't forward thinking or carries user empathy to acknowledge the real gaps that exists then we may end up spinning our wheels for a while...A way for solving for that is ensuring a diverse group of folks get selected for this engagement (as mentioned in the book 🙂) Loved the book!!!!

TBH, John Doerr's OKRs for his presentations were not good. Although *some* of them are measurable, it's not a guarantee that they will bring any value. I've read quite a lot that this happens in businesses adopting OKRs and it just causes frustrations in many levels, because measuring output doesn't not guarantee or proof that value was added. You set the objective as "Develop X" where the Key Results are about getting X done, but then the company doesn't observe any value out of X even after achieving the KRs. Key results must measure things that bring value to the business, the customers, a department or to the individuals. It's crucial that you look at the KR and think: an increase in this metric means an increase in value, and will it undoubtedly contribute to achieving the objective?

This is very good concept but I think it would be more effective if the patient sent in swab if they can’t come to the doctor office so they can have correct results because if you mis Diagnose them their still going to be in pain but this is a Gold mine Idea.
