@@Andres-pe3eq thanks for your comment. It's simple, it's because Quebec was founded by French
@richarddeschenes3318Ай бұрын
Very briefly, Quebec City was establish first in 1608 as French colony, French lost their colony after defeat on Plaine d'Abraham. During its first 150 years, urbanisation was inspired by french and after by British. That explains narrow streets, stone buildings and fortification.

They speak French but a lot of people who are under 40 also speak english. But don't expect elder people to speak it.

My wife and I are coming to Quebec City from the U.S. in May. Very excited! However, we don’t speak a lick of French. Do most people who live there speak some English? Also, I assume this is a yes, but are the locals friendly to Americans?
@Canadian.Walker3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! There's no need to worry about your French; most people at tourist attractions, restaurants, and hotels are bilingual. However, not everyone in Quebec speaks fluent English, so please be patient. The locals are generally friendly, no matter where you’re from. Have a amazing trip in Quebec City my friend😊
