Cheers Marco, Got a great day for the job - just no snow .... and no "Me" .... didn't know it came through the Bell Town.so it's good you recorded the sad state of the High Street - weeds and a few people - thought there'd hae bin a bigger turnout.

Some Bonny tractors and ploughing there I like the older bits of kit myself 🏴👍🏻
@MrJokkomaАй бұрын
Why not plow in a grass field instead, that has been left for 7-8 years? Even a disktiller would make a decent result also on a crop field, plowing in that powder can't fail.
@culmalachie17 күн бұрын
Good question: Pity none of the Fraternity haven't bothered to answer yet. Allow me to jump in! Firstly it's Easier to cross-plough afterwards to level out the field for future cropping without turning up grass turf & Weeds again. 2. it would be easier to pull through softer soil than an old tough Ley ( grass ). 3. shows up the inadequacy of setting the Skimmers to bury the stubble trash compared with short grass which has knitted together. On another level, I find it shows the inadequacies of tractor & ploughing SKILLS. You see all those weights and 4WD machines to pull 2 furrows? The Horse team never used weights on a Plough. Properly set, it has to be CARRIED through the soil (Read about this in a decent book about the Ferguson System). The plough should FOLLOW the tractor as the Horse, NO devices to Hold it to the side, etc. Just look at the Track Width of the machine .... plough can never run in a straight line to the correct furrow width. and so on. Ach just leave them to amuse themselves for they Know Not What They Do ! ... so long as they'r e happy eh ;-)

Every one of those modern Rally cars at the start looked EXACTLY the same. Without the badges, you couldn't tell the difference between any of them! God, I loathe modern cars and rallying. Thank God there was a Mk2 Escort among them.

While I'm not keen on cabs on my own tractors it is nice to see them make it into preservation - I believe that was a Scottish Aviation cab on the grey Fergie.

Was that filmed yesterday? I was climbing the hill up to castlecriag quarry when it was munovering out. Surprised how nimble it was. Also surprised it needed a pilot just to turn round. Pilot was off before it left the bay.

No, I didn't as moved out of Caithness a few years ago now. But i saw his video of the journey on KZbin. He even spotted the old abandoned 1960s Claas sat on a farm north of Brora. It has been lying abandoned for over 20 years. I don't know what condition it is in, but sitting in the open air for years and not far from the sea it can't be good 😢😢

I used to live near to the road from John o Groats a few years ago and saw many weird sights as people headed towards Wick on the A99 as they headed south on the start of their marathon journeys to Lands End. The tractor runs were always the best for me. But sadly I have moved and don't get to see these attempts now.

Great footage. They went over to my house in Dornoch at or below 1000, seen through the trees. The first flights of the day were under an overcast to the north. Seemed clearer to the south. The NOTAM said they could be pretty low. Well done.
