Hi! My name is Judy. I am working with a group this weekend for an event called "Invent for the Planet" our invention is to aid visually impaired people to improve their quality of life. would you be willing to answer a couple of questions either in text or in video?

Hey man, just stumbled upon your videos. I have LHON and was diagnosed about two years ago when I graduated college. Very much agree with you on the constant questions people ask, having to prove you are blind to others because they dont believe you, and so many others.. Good videos man, and you are right, you can be so incredibly happy with a visual impairment.

How much vision do you have left?
@BlurrySito8 жыл бұрын
Most doctors define it diferent but mine says I have counting fingers from 1 -- 2 feet. Hope this helps!

Are you still losing vision or has it stabilized?
@BlurrySito8 жыл бұрын
+Steve Stein with my condition LHON you never know, but with my mutation most of the time it is suppost to be stable after some point, for me I think it stopped getting worst already.

Awesome you are doing this: Two questions 1. At this school do you have a roommate or your own room? 2. When you get the dog do you know if it will sleep in a kennel or a dog bed? I have seen that some places to it different and really like the dog bed more myself. Still not 100 percent on a dog, if I can be away from my kids lol
@BlurrySito8 жыл бұрын
1. Your own room. 2. Either or depending on the dog. Hope I helped!

Wow, thank God that coffee was cold! Hahahaahaa it's nice that you laughed about it. When did you start using a cane once you were said to be living with LHON? Could you make a vid about it? Can't wait for your next vid! :D
@BlurrySito8 жыл бұрын
I will try to make a vid about it but The short answer is that I started using it about a year later because that's how long it took me to move to where I am now
@vanessaa44618 жыл бұрын
A year later? Oh wow! Cool, can't wait to see it if you do make a vid. Oh, also a vid about romance would be so interesting!

Lol poor you. I would of been heartbroken had that been my son. Now I have overall blurry vision rather then just central vision loss. I refused to use my cane at first. That lead to plenty of me getting on to my family members for not telling me when we were coming to a sidewalk or curb and me falling off of it. They would in turn be like use your cane. Which I did not want to use because then people would know I was blind lol. Love seeing someone with vision problems on here that I can relate to or show family memes especially fellow Lhoner Have tons of video ideas I would do if I was not too shy of afraid of the camera

One of my problems has been the umbrella people. I love people that offer to help me and appreciate it. However some people go overboard and want to do everything or drag me along. sit me in a chair, etc. and I am just like okay I can walk, I can do this thank you, okay thank you, ahem thank you.

good video. The problem is (at least in the UK) due to society having certain standards of what they think a VI person should be "able to do" ...if you seem too capable, it actually puts the financial help you can receive at risk, which is completely retarded. I know it sounds bad but it's advised (by myself and by benefit advisors who know their stuff) that for the recent new benefit assessments, that you actually downplay how capable you are because if you don't, you don't fit in to the very ignorant 'standards' for what classifies you as being eligible for certain levels of financial help.
@BlurrySito8 жыл бұрын
That sounds horrible… Thanks for the advice though

Will you ever tell us about your first year with LHON? Do you remember when the denial or frustration with your sight sort of ended?
@BlurrySito8 жыл бұрын
+Vanessa Assibey I can definitely talk about my first year with LHON. I never really had frustration or denial towards it but I can talk more about it on another video.
