@vancestanfield18 күн бұрын
There’s a v10ish boulder problem that’s mostly techy moves into this, then there is a hard crux section after that I haven’t done, then an outro v7 that you could definitly drop. Probably 40-50 feet of climbing. This is the easiest crux of the climb probably of course not counting the outro. I met a pro videographer so we gonna make a vid on it eventually probably. I have a video of the first crux section but it’s not great quality

@@vancestanfield absolutely sick! Can't wait for the movie. What do you think the project grade is?
@vancestanfield17 күн бұрын
I have no idea how to grade endurance stuff haha. Assuming my grading for each individual part is correct (v10 into v10 into v11 into v7), according to Darth Grader it’s around 5.15b but I don’t really believe that lol. I’m gonna guess v13/14 or 5.14d. Idk if I should grade it as a boulder or a sport climb lol

Just curious, do you think about the grades of the routes at all during a comp? I know they're never graded but after do you guess with other athletes or do you not really care
@vancestanfieldАй бұрын
Not really but I could guess. Most of the time they’re actually prolly easier than most people think it’s just most of the time it requires figuring out movement and beta fast enough. This slab was maybe v7. The overhanging climbs on this round were probably v9-10.

Caption from the gram ⬇️ Yellowjacket project 🐝 Perhaps the hardest thing I’ve tried to seriously work. I have all the moves but one (third clip). This sesh wasn’t great but got some good videos and photos. I’m 6 sessions in. The name comes from when I was cleaning the topout on rope. There was a mysteriously vast amount of bees 😭 The name is not stuck in concrete I didn’t even find the climb so. Just what I’m calling it right now. This climb takes an incredible amount of tension through all the moves, since almost none of the holds after the intro sequence are incut the feet positions and body tension are the only thing holding you on. There is a three move technical intro sequence involving two foot cams and a bad smear on a blank wall. The next move is a massive span that entirely depends on not slipping on the smear. You then lock into the foot cam and do two left hand bumps from a bad flat crimp to an ok crimp at full span (for my 5’5” span anyways). You then enter the crux move. You have to release tension off the feet and do a full cut on an ok left hand crimp and a bad right hand pinch. You then throw up a heel hook on a flat rail and exit on bad slopers, mantle, and finish up an easy highball topout. It’s got amazing movement, but unfortunately not the most appealing line just sitting on the side of a cliff underneath a house next to a trail haha. It’ll go eventually 🤙

Any tips for training before climbing is it worth it to hangboard/train weighted pullups before a hard sesh or have a easy sesh?
@jordyverbeek6314Ай бұрын
I wouldnt start hangboarding until your first half year climbing frequently, since hangboards can injure your tendons really quickly if you havnt trained them properly by climbing. Also, i would just start climbing. Weighted pullups would technically make you better in climbing, but it only exercises that 1 movement, while during climbing, you use alot of muscles you dont normally use. So even though its not detremental to do weighted pullups as training, just start climbing. In the time that youre doing them, you can even practise your technique!
