Great Artist...going to buy his book...thanks for doing the review...we can all learn so much from McGinnis!

I remember being around 12 and going to the drugs store. I collected my glass pop bottles. We got cartons of 8 glass bottles of soda back then and you returned the bottles for about 80 cents a carton and I had a way to carry them on my handle bars to the store. It'd get me enough for a comic and my usual chico-stik. Basically a butterfinger without the chocolate. I was always excited to get my GI Joe comics. But this one...OMG. Ninja's and Rambo were the big thing at the time. I almost all the GI Joe stuff. Working for it, birthday, christmas and a small bout of childhood petty theft. This issue with our favorites being so frikken cool. You can only imagine.

Fortunately, Jim Aparo does start using the Anton Furst designs of Gotham City more often in later issues soon after this; so do Norm Breyfogle and other artists. Although, I think Tom Lyle still used modern building designs at the start of Chuck Dixon's run.

Primal looks fun. As a comic fan, are you into the Turok comics (old or new) at all? I wish Rodriguez and McGowan Red Sonja had happened. I also do the notecard method with my writing. I take a note card, add one fact/point/observation - repeat, spread them on the floor, and then I move around. This gives me the structure of how to tackle an essay I'm writing. Keep it up with Ghostland!

Thanks so much for this video! I was 11 years old when I got that magazine, remember being fascinated with the character designs. Was particularly excited about Two Face since my only experience with the character up to that point was an action figure (with wind up coin flipping action!) and what I read in the Encyclopedia of Supervillains. Tried to find my copy, but couldn’t dig it up in time for the 30th anniversary today, so I’m very grateful for this video. Thanks again!

Thank you for this overview of Davis' work. In my opinion he's one of the single most underrated comics creators in the history of the medium. _The Marquis_ is so criminally unknown I extol it wherever possible. I also own the Modern Masters volume and the collected _The Z Word_ . I'll take care to point out that _The Marquis_ doesn't take place in France (no city called Venisalle exists), but in a fictional place inspired by central Europe circa the 18th century. I say central Europe because to my eye Venisalle bears *much* more resemblance to Prague or Vienna than to Paris. Great news: _Inferno_ is getting the OHC treatment, slated for a December release. I already preordered :)

@@LordRezo I ordered mine from Amazon. It's supposed to be out Dec 29th, but between Covid and the fact that preorder volume can always change release dates or cancel them entirely, it's not unlikely to be pushed to sometime in 2021. Are you drawing it one to one scale? That’s interesting. I have Art Adams pages and he switched down to 8x11.75 for all of his Monkey Man and O’Brien pages
@iwantmystery5 жыл бұрын
Chad Townsend Yup, all 8.5 x 11. And it was another Adam (Hughes) that inspired me to only work on this scale. Less page = closer to printed comic scale, less to draw, faster turnaround. I don’t think I’d ever work any larger unless the final version required me to change up.

Midnight Mystery awesome. I might give it a go. I find when I draw larger I don’t get the kind of line weight and details I want like I do in say my sketchbooks.
