How much would something like that sell for after polished?

Where is a good place to get a cutting wheel like the one you use to actually shape the stone
@junglesurvivalcamp3 ай бұрын
Check out turtlehords website. He sells the least expensive faceting machines. You can pick up decent ones on ebay if you search faceting machine. Good luck.

You may have a sunstone displaying Schiller effect.

@stevesvoboda9816 I doubted it was topaz until I cut the crown and experienced the cleavage plain. To heavy for sunstone.

Isn't there a depth of cut control, where you can raise or lower the base that the hand tool is on? If there is, that should be all you need to make the adjustment after replacing the lap plates and lap.

I have been faceting with this machine for too many years to count, lol, My first stone took me maybe twenty hours to go through referring to the the instructions frequently. A learning curve. The second stone took half the time, the third took several hours. A few weeks later, your basic 5 7 facet diamond cut took one to two hours to cut and polish a finished one cart rhodolite garnet. Never had to mess with any adjustments on the legs. All facets petty much lined up from rough through final polish with no adjustments at all. No criticism intended as we all have the urge to cut a "bunch of stones" as we are dying to see out sparklers. Faceting is an art, not a science. I did not start to use adjustments until I started to get into complicated and custom stones. The rounds, rectangular shapes, emerald, etc., are all pretty trouble free. Since those first few months many years ago I have faceted thousands of gemstones, set them into custom jewelry of my own making (I maintain a complete casting and jewelers bench). The Raytech machine is one of the best platforms to work with. My go to machine to this day. A bit of patience.
