Come and help us men in construction and infrastructure. So we can truly be equal. It's hot out here. Stop talking and start doing.

@@joceaceasar5195 we are doing it :) - personally I was in the field for about 15 years of my career hot or cold outside all the time construction and operations - we know what it takes ;) - we are walking the path and supporting the ones that want to do it at the same time -

It's mysterious how youtube algo works , I was scrolling through the videos and saw this thumbnail featuring Charu and immediately realised that we both are connected on twitter (X) and are from the same "Himalayan State", saw the entire podcast and it was a rewarding experience, its clear that she's all about "What is done in love is done well". Wishing you both continued success in all your endeavors.

Women are not paid less than men because they are women.

Open to hear what is the reason in your opinion then? Here is the Professional Association of Alberta Canada salary survey result - perhaps you would find some of the questions to these answers in it - www.apega.ca/about-apega/publications/salary-survey#members

Setting aside the ridiculousness of citing a single study of a single profession in a single Canadian provence, the figures you provided don't even back up your claim. The 2023 PDF shows both genders earning within a few percentage points of each other, with the women actually making MORE than the men in some cases. Even IF women were making less than men in the same jobs, that alone would not be evidence that they are being discriminated against. The explanation for the "gender pay gap" is that women are generally the principal care providers to children, working fewer hours, taking more time off, in many cases years at time.

It is true women are paid less than men and this is coming from a man. So please don’t hate on this video. Understood

@LucasJacques-ie6wg I never said they weren't paid less, I said it wasn't because they were women, ie. discrimination. And the idea that you being a man somehow legitimizes your claim is... discriminatory.

First - I never claimed this happened in every profession or to every woman - since I have been on STEM for 21 years (in Canada), being a female and being both employee and leader that is where I am commenting from - if you watch the whole episode you can see that - I know WE get paid less just because we are women and that is the one ☝️ public study I referred you to. I have been paid less working the same amount of hours, having equal or more education and having the same amount of work load. Second. The study reveals “almost”equal percentages at the start of a career only for engineers NOT geoscientist; however as you climb up your career the gap increases significantly. Up to 20% or more if you check total compensation charts. Third. Nobody said “discriminated” at all. It’s unfair and that is why we need to talk about it. Fourth. Perhaps you can refer us to a public, vetted study that backs-up your theory that women are paid less because they work less hours than their men peers in the exact work conditions?

Steel recycling approx $300/ton. That's its value. Let the experts worry about the metallurgy
@infinity.growth

Totally @markbarber7839, if you listen to the full podcast episode, you will realize that the point here is the loss of alloy elements that are scarce, like Ni, Cr, Mo, Va, Co, etc, and are used to create highly resistant alloys, when they go with your "bulk - $300/ton recycling steel"... BTY I am a 22 years professional on Metallurgy and Alicia is 20+ in thermodynamics expert - that is why we ARE having this conversation. You are welcome to join and bring your expert opinion anytime.

so... it's not that women are being prevented from attending, or evening not being able to meet the criteria... it's that women don't want to go... woman's rights mean they have the opportunity to do everything men do... not that they must do everything that men do...
@infinity.growth

Thanks for the comment @halifaxguy - Not here to push anyone to do something they don’t want to do but more so to highlight a fact! The question is: why don’t they want to go? And when they go for it, are we giving them all the same opportunities so they can scale at the same pace as anyone else?
