just like the golden days of chemistry, regardless of equipment(or lack thereof) and safety, what drove this reaction to the finish was sheer will power and what ensured its completion was pure skill. As someone who did a lot of makeshift experimentation I commend you on your success without blowing yourself up, not that my commendation is worth something, now days I'm a nobody and it is just for the record.

Sad you probably live in india. i have a bunch of good lab equipment even a rotation evaporator. i didn´t use it anymore becouse i had a bad accident nearly killed myself by doing chemistry and decided to better stay away from it. it probably will be to expensive to sent it from europe over to you to india. sad you could make better use of it than i´m. And to everybody who thinks about doing chemistry please don´t do it if you didn´t know and understand what you are doing. i learned it the hard way.

@@electromagic3111 Where i live it is hard to obtain Chemicals as a private person. I needed some Chloroform as a Solvent for another reaction i planned to do. Since I can't buy it, I made it myself. I wanted to clean it by distilling it once and forgot to add ethanol to prevent a not so healthy gas from forming. I nearly died that day. Now I have a few holes in my lungs. i will never forget that smell like rotten hay. I knew immediately what was going on and ran out of the room but it was too late.
@TheGesox22 күн бұрын
@@electromagic3111At the moment I can breathe normally, but as I get older there is a high chance that I will need an oxygen source. Sport is taboo, when I run stairs I notice that I lack oxygen. There is also a much increased risk of lung cancer. A mild pneumonia, which others often overcome without any problems with antibiotics, puts me in the hospital and could be fatal. There are approx. 12% of my lungs burned. The thing is, phosgene turns into hydrochloric acid in the lungs due to moisture. This causes the lungs to begin to fill with water. On the one hand, it dilutes the acid and when you are no longer exposed the damage caused by the acid is limited becouse of this. I realized what happend and ran out into the open. on the other hand, you literally drow and then there is this indescribable pain from millions of needle pricks in your chest, plus the panic which immediately sets in becouse of the shortness of breath that gets worse and worse until you become unconscious.

Can i use a triangular flask as a reaction vessel, i have always seen people use a round bottom flask for this reaction never understood why. I do not have a round bottom flask or a heating mantle.
@TheDIYChemistАй бұрын
Nurdrage has used conical flask as a reaction vessel on a hot plate. The protocol says that reaction should be performed in round bottom flask. There is a risk of cracking on heating conical flask.

@TheDIYChemist Better be safe than sorry
@SCRAMBL01Ай бұрын
Triangular flask i think you mean an erlen flask, it could be used as a last resort but you should get a boiling flask the reason is erlen flask has an uneven glass concentration and could be too thick or too thin in some places and its not designed for heating much it could crack or chip a boiling or round bottom flask is even and is made of borosilicate glass so its resistant to heat

why are u wearing ntirile gloves for this!?

Wearing nitrile gloves while working with fuming nitric acid can be dangerous but not wearing them is also dangerous . I personally wore them for a reason due to sulphuric acid and possibility of hands getting yellow due to fumes of nitric acid. Taking care no nitric acid spills on gloves.
