Thank you for this video, I had a mental breakdown when I quit veganism and realised that I had been lied to. I was not saving animals, and my diet was not environmentally friendly. Supporting local farmers who treat their animals well, regenerative farming, fish you catch yourself, backyard chickens - this is what I live by now and I feel so much better. Why did it take me years to realise this?

@@VanessaDixon It was a process. I was vegetarian for 4 years and then fully vegan for 7 years. I started eating eggs again 8 months ago and meat 6 months ago. My health was deteriorating quickly in the last years and I finally realised I was making myself sick with my diet. I had a whole cupboard full of supplements in the end, in an attempt to feel better - nothing worked. Would a healthy diet require SO many supplements? Then I read about how many of the studies promoting veganism were misinterpreted or fairly useless epidemiological studies. I read about how nutrient-dense and bioavailable high-quality animal foods are, compared to plants. I felt lied to, and my gears started turning - How can it possibly be more environmentally friendly to eat exotic imported food than meat from nearby farms? From there I started reading about mono-crops, crop deaths, and how farmers in other countries are exploited (to make my vegan food) and I felt like a fool. I feel so much closer to nature now - I grow my own food, I fish, I have hens, and I buy meat from my neighbours. This feels so much better to me, and my health is finally improving - both physically and mentally. I hope you're feeling better and better with your new diet. ☺You deserve it! Love your channel by the way.
