Some years ago I had the pleasure of seeing Richard and Teddy perform at the Oden in Cleveland Ohio USA. I've seen Richard several times over the years including this summer in Kent Ohio, (sadly he was sick) but seeing Richard and Teddy was extra special.

I was there that night! I had just arrived for the 1st time in Stockholm and met my host at the Slussen metro stop and we hurried by taxi to the church. I had realized that my arrival was on Santa Lucia and asked if there were public celebrations that I could attend, and she procured tickets. We stashed my suitcases in the back of the church and took our seats. It was one of the most moving experiences that I have ever had, especially as I had just arrived in this new city after an 11 hour flight. Thank you!

This cover has a haunting elegaic quality about it that surpasses even Cohen's great original version. Goosebumps every time I listen to it!

His own songs tend to be sardonic and a bit snarky. And when Cohen did his song, he did it in a more jokey manner. So it is curious, but bloody lovely, hearing TT going full on voice-throbbing heart-felt in style. His singing is deceptive. It appears simple. But the amount of ornamentation and technique is wild, except...he knows that the point of those things is to use them to enrich a song, not to run over the song like a truck. Cohen said that his favourite cover of any of his songs was TT's version of this. I know people bang on about his father. Meh. I always found him over rated. His playing was too heavy, his songs just not much good. Now...his MOTHER...totally different story. She is a god damn goddess.

Interesting cover, slowed down and sung with a tender voice. Not too much like Leonard Cohen's original but lovely to listen to. There's a lot of respect in this version. Thank you.
