I had a quick play with SatPc and the IC705. You can select the correct mode while transmitting. IE: press the ptt touch the mode on the 705 screen and select the desired mode (USB LSB FM Data ECT). It seems to remember that selection. This is of cause in split mode.

At about the 46 second mark I show how you can change the CVI with the up and down arrows below the second box. I didn't show clicking the Addresses OK button which then adds it to the drop down combo box. You can then select the new CVI. Hope that helps.

My radio does the same thing. In frequency mode it allows you to select VFO mode however in channel mode I can't select VFO mode. I need to sit down with the radio and have a play with it again.

Yes, it's probably lacking in a few departments. I reduced the volume a bit too. Maybe too far. If I had some hardware to capture hdmi feed would help as well. Or maybe it was my plan so you have to watch it over and over 😀.

No. I use simplex for my wiresX node I run at home. If you connect to a wiresX enabled repeater you will need the correct offset as per a normal repeater use.

@DX for Dummies yes. Connecting a repeater to wiresx needs more hardware and an internet connection. There are other ways to connect a repeater to wiresX network however the short answer is there are lots of fusion repeaters without wiresX.

Not all repeaters are wiresX enabled. They do need extra hardware and an internet connection.

Mine does the same. It seems from what I've seen so far at least... that any unbalanced antenna has this issue. If I use a dipole the AM breakthrough is gone with no other "accessories" 😀😀 73 DE YO6DXE

Was odd how the EFHW I made didn't have the problem either. Maybe it just a indication that my home brew EFHW was deaf.

@@vk4kws I don't think so. I made mine as well a few times. Some get the interference some not so much. I really don't know why. But I have a feeling that when we tune it to the proper length... never the same... sometimes maybe it resonates in a way that it would pick up those signals really well. Other times not at all. Strange world of antennas haha.

Wow! The end fed had a huge messy signal strength, but the LOG antenna is so clear. Have you tried transmitting through the LOG Antenna? I have used HF dipoles and end fed antennas as low as a 1m off the ground which seemed to be quite good for up and down NVIS. Regards, Jas. VK4FJGS

I have seen this issue at night with Xiegu and Icom rigs and my EFHW antennas. Oddly, my KX3 is immune to it. Maybe its because of the internal tuner. I’m in the Chicago area with several clearchannel AM stations. My 6BTV has no issue on any of the rigs. I’m thinking the EFHW transformer behaves like a MW loading coil.

Yes it only started when I installed the commercial efhw. My home brew didn't suffer from the AM station either. I have added a high pass filter at the back of the radio so I don't hear that AM station at all. I have a solar charged backup battery system which also charged from the gird if solar input was low. I found the AC side to be very noisy. I have it disabled now and got rid of s3 noise aswell. In the last few weeks I've install a Loop On Ground rx antenna and so far I love it. My local club has a net on 80m with a regular portable foundation station (10w 1000+km) calling in and he is usual difficult to hear unless conditions are really good. So far he's been Q5 S1 each net since I installed the LOG.

I haven't found out how to change from VFO mode to Memory. Other DMR radios I have you can program one of the buttons to swap between the two. I' ll have to check it out.

Reading all the great comments I guess I'm the only one that is having issues. I've downloaded the program but in the video you just use any old micro usb cable and it doesn't work that easy. Any suggestions

I have seen other people using the the old UV5R/Kenwood stye programing lead. The two pin lead that plugs into the speaker mic sockets. As far as the micro usb lead goes I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Is there an error displayed?

Well I took my radio and cables to my work computer and it still has a problem. Also I'm not finding the 1702 program I'm finding 1701 I'm wondering if that's a issue

I had a hard time making out your conclusion with the audio from the radio being almost as loud as your voice. So where did you conclude is the best place to put the choke balun or did it matter?

It ended up working the best at the feed point of the antenna. It's still at the feed point now.

With the choke at the radio end I could still hear the broadcast station. It did make a difference but at the feed point it was basically gone.

You also need a high pass filter to block out the AM broadcast band. That nearby transmitter will cause birdies all over your receiver. I'm Fairly close to Nashville's 650 AM here in the states and I have an FTDX101, and believe me that a broadcast band filter is needed, I also use a common mode choke with the EFHW but for other reasons, it helps reduce the RF on the feedline from the EFHW's transformer. Think of a common mode choke as a resistor that only works at RF and is connected only to the shield of the coax, because that's where the 'common' or 'ground' currents are. The reason why it helps with the nearby AM station is that the shielding of your coax is acting as an antenna. The choke helps prevent that. Also, have you grounded the shield of your coax at the service entrance to your shack? That helps too. I know the video is old, but I thought if you've not done these things yet you could and it'd improve your ham life. At any rate, if we've not worked one another I hope to soon! 73's KY4CT

Thanks Jonathan, yes i have added a highpass filter and an earth from the transformer. Also since the video i found a solar charger i have has a ac to dc charge circuit, it was causing around s3 noise. i was able to disable it and the battery back for my off grid power is solar charged only now. Are you using the micro usb socket? Some people have said they have to use the mic/speaker socket. Have you tried plugging the usb lead in with the radio on? If so maybe try turning the radio on with the usb lead plugged in. Is the firmware the same version as the programming software? Any info you can give may help getting you going.

Also have you tried different usb leads. Some leads are only good for charging a phone.. They don't have the data wires connected.

Hi, how did you get install the DM1702 on Windows 10? If I connect it with the USB-cable Windows say me its a printer and I cant update the USB-Controller. Do you know a solution for this problem? Thank you in advance.

Sorry MardekSirenen..when I plugged my dm1702 into my win 10 pc it just worked. I'll plug it in when I get a chance and will let you know what my system thinks it is.

@MardekSirenen Just tried then and the only thing added to device manager is USB Printing Support NO Printer Attached under USB controllers. I did have to use a different usb lead (just now) The first lead I got a unrecognized usb device. The second lead added those two controllers and read the radio OK. Also win 10

@@vk4kws Yes exactly these two controllers were also added to me. The instructions say that you have to update the controller and that doesn't work. For me, the radio is not recognized in the program and can not be read. Or do I have to configure something in the programm that I can read the radio?

I haven't had this problem. Have you checked all the permissions are correct. Maybe run the programming software as administrator.

No I haven't had any problems connecting. Are you using a good quality USB lead. One with the data wires/contacts connected. Some cheap lead seem to only work to charge phones ECT. Try turning the radio on after plugging the USB in if that doesn't work try plugging it in with the radio on.

Yes I use a micro USB cable that came with an old phone. I do have a lead for the uv5r but it isn't required for the dm1702. I think that lead has the usb to serial converter chip built into the lead. The dm1702 must have the converter in the radio. You just need to watch some cheap leads and for charging only and don't have the data wires connected. I also think if you program using the mic and speaker ports you will need to use the lead similar to the uv5r lead if not that lead.

hi I found this video interesting but I am having problems using md software to programme my baofeng dm-760 I understand this is same as the dm-1702 but when I click ok on read from radio my radio restarts is there a work round for this
