Grundy didn't want to do this interview, knowing nothing about the band, but he was persuaded. They were a last minute replacement for Queen. You could say it was a bulls eye. Could also say it was the end of punk. And Steve Jones gave a whole lot of people a Career Opportunity :D

Anyone outside of the UK will probably have no idea how shocking an event this was at the time. The next day the UK tabloid press went berserk, the Pistols became infamous throughout the UK, and punk exploded onto the scene. Without this, punk might have remained nothing more than a minor, forgotten music cult in London. All thanks to a drunken tv presenter on a show that no one outside of London even saw!

Everywhere (I mena everywhere) i read this transcript ( including Wikipedia, Malcom's book, the Guardian ... the lot ), it ALWAYS says that Rotten utters "Siegfried", directly after Grundy says "Good heavens, you frightened me to death,". But rotten doesn't say this !! He says "oh alright so you can play games... I'm not impressed" how the hell can only I hear this? (and at makes more sense .. and very Johnny R)

@@torp7215 Sure. (kind of means the same thing if not said sarcastically) but it certainly ain't 'Siegfried' . Don't you think that's weird? especially given that Johnny has said "I'm not impressed" or " (or whatever that includes the work 'impressed') or 'I'm not amused' in a number of interviews.
