have Cerebral Palsy and I'm going through a situation where I could use some guidance and someone to talk to. I filed a HUD complaint against my apartments and won. Now, I'm facing homelessness out of retaliation. I've been just about everywhere trying everything to get the help I need in time. I need to be out by 10/7/24 I'm not asking for money. Maybe just some direction where to go for legal help. There's a lot more... A LOT more to my situation and I'm trying to avoid being homeless. Especially when I know I've been targeted and bullied. What about discrimination against us disabled people from both cities of West St.Paul and South St.Paul cities council members don't what tenants on housing vouchers and human services and riding public buses, and light rails trains in MPLS. They in March of 2021 The cities council members are gops supporters and they hate us due to being on housing vouchers and human services programs in Dakota county and made up lies us disabilitys people call 911 100% which is done by non disabled people from group homes assting living apartments and houses 🏘️ and told landlords to fucking evictions of tenants on if victims of CRIMES, but cops in south and west st.paul victimized us if we are a victim of a CRIMES and cities council members orders landlords to fucking evictions of tenants on housing vouchers and human services programs and public buses and light rails trains.

If a prospective tenant told me he got evicted, but didn't pay rent because that place had been in poor condition, I wouldn't believe it. Not at all. My first question would be - if it was so horrible, why did you stay- to the point where you had to be forced out? My next reaction would be to give him the benefit of the doubt. Show me where you put good faith rent money in an escrow account to try to leverage those necessary repairs. Didn't do that? Sorry. Way better to get out before an eviction. A tenant can always try to negotiate an early end to lease, then it's a mutual agreement and no court records.

Landlord/tenant Retaliation for health and safety violation repairs October 21 2022 the property manager sent me a request to allow a rent increase of $200 monthly rent. My apartment is subsidized by HUD via HCV. The housing authority sent me contradicting paperwork 11/28/22 stating that a unit must not request a rent increase if currently failed hqs inspection or failed within the last year. It failed a few months ago regarding electricity theft and is currently failed for other eeasons previously failed and a new issue they found. This comes after the landlord stole electricity and hot water from my meters for 9 months and I put an end to it legally. I requested in March that it be remedied. It wasn't until August I had to inform the housing authority about the theft. The property manager called the electric company and said "I'd moved out". As well as she slandered me to the housing authority that I was passed due several hundred dollars on my bill. Which is a lie I have never been late and paid in full each month and I have proof of everything and more. Now I received an email from the property manager saying if I have not signed the rent increase (no new lease was offered either as the other tenants received. )by 11/15/22 I will receive an immediate notice to vacate on 12/31/22. My lease is up 11/30/22. I was hoping to renew. It's obvious they want me gone. I'm current on rent and never late. I keep my apartment very clean. I even clean the common areas. I can't believe that I've had to deal with any of this. I'm so stressed out this entire time living here too. I got carbon monoxide poisoning last winter too from this place. I have certified reports showing epa violations for co poisoning too after the diagnosis. I feel like this is Retaliation because I asked them to fix those epa violations. I never informed the housing authority either regarding the epa violations too. I've attempted to be amicable. Isn't this blatant Retaliation?

Landlords don't evict in "retaliation", it costs money to file, it takes months in most cases, its horrible, most hate going to court. Filing for eviction is a desperate act when they see no other way to get the lease to work, and only a judge can order one after fairly hearing both sides of a case. THINK how much easier it is just to collect rent, if the tenant is doing nothing wrong as they claim. Its got to be a big, big problem. Its a huge ordeal to renovate apartments after tenants leave, usually with tenant damages out of vengeance which they're stuck having to clean up and repair and they practically always end up losing money. This sort of stuff is just blithering nonsense.

There are so many other places to rent, and anyone with a vacancy is searching for good renters. There must be something about the arrangement you like to put up with all that!

@@c.rutherford My rent was income-based. Everything was fine till I reported that she overcharged me $6500. She also withheld checks that HUD sent to me for 10 months. Two days after the report she sent me an email saying Effective immediately my rent was $1358 a month and that the rent was retracted for 9 months putting me at $9,800. I did some research and found out that she can contact HUD to get the full amount and also charge me the $9,800. She was going to get $19,600 by doing this. She has done this to other tenants as well because she's unethical. Retaliating against a tenant for doing something legal is punishable by law and am not letting her rob me because I'm low-income and disabled. I paid my rent 15 days before it was due and I have never owed any landlord rent in my 17 years as a renter or been evicted. This is not ok. I'm taking her to court right now.

Any number of situations can result in an eviction going through without prejudice. If you had a tenant that owed you 2 years worth of rent, and was able to somehow file a judgment against you, and use that judgment money that you didn't pay them, as their rent money. Let's say they use it all up and empty a cash register. Now they start accruing new debt. Let's say they haven't allowed the landlord into the property for 20 months, they have a dog that is not allowed, other renting adults that are not allowed, nobody's paying rent at all, that tenant keeps finding code violations that they caused themselves, and you suspect them of dealing drugs out of the apartment day and night and have video proof of them tampering in the other tenants mailboxes. Do you just let them take rent from you indefinitely cuz what? They're cute? At what point in time is a judge supposed to find for your landlord when you're pulling shit like that? I have this tenant that is using the police department to file vexatious litigation against the landlord and his family, to hold stuff up. When it comes down and she runs out of this judgment that the landlord was supposed to pay her, instead of paying her, she used it for her rent payments for the last 2 years. It's time to go!!!

They always give you numbers for legal aid or legal aid never ever ever return my call not even give me the decency of calling and leaving a voicemail or text message on my phone and I make sure I call them way ahead of time. It's a real pity because what my landlord is doing after I've given him money in advance of the rent is sheer evilness and I don't have a lawyer to help me
