there is little doubt in my mind that i'd buy one of these newly built tubs as opposed to trying to fix an old one up or even having a professional outfit do it.

So cool. I've got a 1950 TD & love driving it. Some of the previous restoration wasn't done correctly & trying to get things corrected, but it costs a lot of money so doing it one step at a time. Just replaced the original transmission with a 5-speed fully synchronized one from Hi-Gear Engineering in the UK. Could have sourced it from one of the well known places here in the US, but it was cheaper to do it directly & have it shipped to my mechanic. The driver's side door won't fully latch & it was interesting to watch the gentleman bang away at the door in this video. I may need to purchase new hinges, but I need to do a bit more investigation. I've loosened the hinges to see if it will engage, but now luck, but that's the fun of owning one of these classics. I'm not afraid to spend the money, but don't want to get the wife in an uproar! lol

And the amount of wood in the TC model was equal, if not more, I think.

36 minutes of video answered so many questions I had about redoing the wood in my TF. THANK YOU for posting this. EDIT - I just received the Timbers and Steel panels to rebuild the body tub of my '54 MG TF. I have to say the quality of the wood and the steel panels is far superior to anything else I have seen from other suppliers.

Thanks so much for making/posting this ... truly mesmerizing. I have re-skinned many MGB doors and the door skinning done that quickly/precisely with the body hammer was awesome! I saw quite a few techniques I am going to immediately apply to the metal work on my wife's Sprite! Do you have any idea what the settings were on the MIG welder (Amps/Wire Speed) when they closed that seam on the door? Any clue what wire they were using? Outstanding work!!!

Great video- I am putting my restoration back together tonight. My only concern is after the 36 minutes to assemble the tube, what will I do with the rest of my evening?????

You can buy one easy as pie. Just get a time machine & transport yourself back to 1950. Sorry mine is not for sale. Anyway mine are a TC & TF and I'm sure you wouldn't want those , would you.
