Saying this from 2024😢. The elevator has been pretty beat up, and every single vandal has been here before. The 9th floor, stairwells, and elevators have been pretty vandalized.

They must have modernized the first elevator that you rode in this video. But all they did was replace the incandescent lights in the buttons and indicator with LEDs and of course added a voice and brought some stuff up to code. I'm sure they upgraded the controller too. Obviously, the service elevator got a complete mod. I don't know why in the heck they would make that tiny little thing a frickin service elevator. Like that is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in my life. They honestly should have classified it as a passenger elevator and tied both on the same call system, that's just my quite honest humble opinion

That is so bizarre, but I like it! It sounds like the glass one has a new motor, so if I had to guess, the service was in bad shape so they modded that one fully, and then they replaced all the equipment (and controller) on the passenger while keeping the fixtures original

Did you filmed the AirTrain T4 elevators? I recently filmed there back on April 26th, and the interior fixtures got replaced by Innovation Prestige parts

I actually love the new installation but it kinda reminds me of the Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport except these are 5500 elevators.

With Macys announcing they are closing 150 more stores in the upcoming years and based on the current state with this mall, I don’t think there’s much time left for this elevator and the store as a whole. I’m not saying it’s going to close immediately, but I won’t be surprised if this store shuts down at some point in the future. Which stinks because this elevator and the escalators are very unique.

Dang I have not rode this elevator for so long even though I have to take another Terminal which is Terminal 1 at JFK Airport but identical to the other one but I might have the chance to go there in 2025 until my next trip to London.

Ironically, this is right beside the main tower elevators on the 1st floor. Just enter the door next to the main elevators and this is where you encounter these.

Nice! So the hotel elevators are basically Westinghouse with Otis Gen2 bell lanterns and voice, and the parking garage elevator is actually an Otis Gen2 elevator.

Honestly, these newer Schindler elevators do NOT hold up to outdoor, weather, or vandalism well AT ALL. They should have gone with an Otis or ThyssenKrupp standard traction or hydraulic elevator. Even a Gen2 or Synergy would hold up better than a 3300/5500.

I need an answer for this. Once we were fooling around in the airport, we got on a Jannus Elevator and went down to some level named 'E' or something. It probably wasn't open to the public but it was realllllly cool to find a secret there. This was before the renovations, however. What did I see?

I'm actually not sure what was down there since my first visit to this airport wasn't until 2021, after the renovations were finished. I know the lower floors of the garage were expanded and its floors were renumbered, so floor E back then is floor 2 now, and the top floor is now 8 instead of 6. Based on the floor being labelled as "E", I would guess that used to be employee parking?
