Summarised: The entry salary is not a concern; Lance focuses on the probability of success and the spectrum of success in trading. Success often involves enduring difficulties for a few years, but for those who succeed, the potential is limitless. Lance evaluates trades over long-term charts (three-month and multi-year) but gives the most weight to intraday charts (70% of decision-making). The power of following trends is often underestimated, especially in euphoric markets, where trends can be surprisingly strong. Important factors for successful trading include high volume, news catalysts, and stock movement on the first day. Lance doesn’t tie himself to specific outcomes before all information is available, comparing it to poker where decisions evolve as new information emerges. Flexibility in trading is critical, and Lance believes traders should be ready to shift their bias as market conditions change dynamically. The best trades break levels and continue without returning; traders should avoid selecting stocks that show signs of weakness. Many traders lack clear views or understanding of the nuances that influence trading success, especially in relation to current news. News is one of the most important variables in stock trading, significantly affecting stock prices and trends. Lack of awareness about news leads to poor trading decisions, like fading a stock’s spike when it’s not overextended due to fresh news. Risk management was initially a weakness for Lance, but removing trades without stop losses and using edge-based strategies helped mitigate large losses. Lance values systems that track price and volume movements, focusing on 2x or greater volume capitulation and price spikes. Lance emphasizes that hard work, grit, and determination can lead to success, even without exceptional intelligence or technical skills. Risking the right amount is key; traders should aim for optimal risk but not so much that losses could take them out of the game. A real trading level should provoke an emotional reaction and involve significant buying from all market participants. Lance recounts lessons from a mentor who made substantial profits consistently, using this as motivation to succeed in the market. Trading decisions can change quickly based on macroeconomic news or company-specific announcements, requiring real-time adjustments. Live trading is discouraged for learning; Lance believes that people seeking live trades are not putting in the effort to learn the underlying concepts.

The entire conversation transcribed to text: Entry salary-I don't care about the 26k. What is the probability of success? How many people do succeed, and what does that spectrum of success look like? Then I knew, like, look, you're going to eat shit for a couple of years, but if you happen to be one of the successful ones, the sky's the limit. It's so important for people to recognize that, at least for me, I never look at any trade in a vacuum. I'm always looking at it long term; I'm always looking at it on a three-month chart, and I'm always looking at it intraday. The intraday chart is, of course, the most important because, at the end of the day, I’m an intraday trader. So, the intraday chart is probably, I would guess, depending on the trade, close to 70% of the decision-making power. Maybe the three-month chart is 25%, and that last 5% is for the big-picture multi-year view. That's also the power of being with the trend-sometimes the trend really surprises you. Actually, I’d say more often than not, the trend has a lot more power than you would imagine, especially in this kind of euphoric market. Why did I think this was such an in-play, special stock? For starters, the volume, the news catalyst, and how much it went up on that first day. I’d say when you have good traders in a pod, and everybody is really having that "seat" moment, that’s when you can push size. So many people are debating, "Oh my God, is this just going to be the fake-out before the breakout?" And it’s like, I don’t need to make that decision. People ask me, "Oh my God, what’s your plan for the breakout? How are you positioning for it?" And it’s like, I don’t need to decide that yet. I can see how this sets up against the breakout. Why tie yourself psychologically to an outcome before you have all the information? It’s like asking a poker player, "Hey man, how many chips are you going to put in this hand?" How the hell can I know that? I don’t know all the cards on the table yet. I don’t know how everyone’s betting. Whatever answer I give you is going to change as I get more information. What people need to realize is the ability to change on the fly without ridicule as new information emerges. Everything is dynamic-science is dynamic, politics is dynamic. We can say we’re short-biased, and boom, that can change, and then we’re neutral or long-biased. The best trades are the ones where they break the level and are gone forever. If you’re only buying the ones that come back to the level, you’re self-selecting for weakness. One of the major issues I see in the trading world is that people’s views are too vague. There are so many nuances to factor in, so much material you need to be applying to even stand a chance at gaining an edge. I think it's great to have a template. The beauty of a template is that it allows you to be more diligent, ensuring you’re not missing any category. Once you have a template, it makes things faster and reduces the thinking needed to go through a process, while ensuring you’re not forgetting anything. One of the biggest blind spots for retail traders is that they have no clue about the news, which is one of the most important variables for a stock trader. In pure binary terms, news is what moves stock prices fundamentally, right? Whether it’s earnings reports, mergers and acquisitions, or any other news catalyst, the biggest variable is fresh news. If there’s fresh news on a stock, I’m generally trying to go with the trend. I’m almost never looking for a reversal. But if you don’t even check if there’s news, your trading is probably way off. You might be trying to fade a spike, thinking it’s overextended, but in reality, it’s not because it’s based on fresh news. The ludicrous part is when people try to backtest setups without factoring in the news. It’s the biggest variable for many setups. Fresh news changes everything. Just a quick reminder that all the best day trading and investing tools are linked in the description. Don’t forget to check that out. Let’s get back to the video. So, risk management was actually one of my biggest weaknesses, which surprises a lot of people. The only reason I had a career was because I was working with a lot of edge, so I could get away with some big losses. That doesn’t mean it was fun. Big losses spur a negative feedback loop, and a lot of them came when I didn’t have a stop. The first thing I did was remove any type of trading where I didn’t have a stop. There can always be flukes-stocks get halted, surprise news drops. Nothing can eliminate that Black Swan risk. What I try to do is systemize and quantify this. I like to see the price go 2x or more. If it’s 3x, 4x, or 5x, even better. Another thing I look for is 2x volume capitulation. It’s not just about price, but volume too. Volume is one of the most overlooked factors. What I really look for in capitulation is price capitulation along with volume. I don’t think I’m Rain Man or Elon Musk or anything, but I knew that nobody would work harder than me or care more. That was in my control. The whole principle here is that even without being a genius or a computer scientist, you can use soft skills and grit to go from nothing to massive success. So, how do you choose risk amounts? My answer is that you want to risk toward what would be an optimal amount, but never so much that a few bad trades could take you out of the game. Many people get faked out because they fall for noise. A real level gets an emotional reaction-everyone should be piling into that level. Hedge funds, institutions, banks, retail traders-all of them should be buying it. What a lot of people do is react to noise. A true level is clear. If I can show any trader with technical analysis experience, they should be able to say, "Oh wow, that’s a real level." I remember sitting next to my trainer on the desk, and there would be days when he’d make a couple hundred grand, or even on normal days, he’d make ten, fifteen, or twenty grand. I’d think, "If you can just do a tenth of what this guy does, you’ll figure it out." News can change everything-macro news, CPI numbers, company-specific announcements. Anything can change in a second, and my view will change too. That’s why my trading is for learning purposes. I don’t do live trading because there’s no way to learn from that. People wanting live trades are just trying to piggyback, not putting in the work to learn the concepts I’m freely sharing.

Hi Alex, i usually love yours videos but not this one. I agree with you about the second and third strategy. EMAs/SMAs crossovers are the points of greatest uncertainty and of course they don't work! Issue is that kids don't use EMAs/SMAs properly. Not theirs fault but because BS prop firm education. Moving averages are just a reference and is more important where price is vs the averages. Fake signals can be greatly reduced by filtering the lower timeframe signals with higher TF ( that's true for any strategy). Surprised that scalping is not considered a BS strategy. It will be my first choice.
