This is a beautiful area. I have read several explanations of what the name Lizard comes from. But nothing is linked to the green rocks. They are called serpentine and this sort of mineral is special for this area 😊 Great to see this part of the path again. And I loved Kynance Cove when I walked there. Thank you for sharing 😊
@walkabout808Күн бұрын
I read that it is named Lizard for the rocks in a travel book I had back when I first visited in 2018, so not sure that's 100% accurate, but it is what Lonely Planet has led me to believe. :)
@TravellingTorunnКүн бұрын
@@walkabout808 That can of course also be an explanation 🙂 Another explanation is from Wikipedia: Etymology: The name "Lizard" is most probably a corruption of the Cornish name "Lys Ardh", meaning "high court";[5] it is purely coincidental that much of the peninsula is composed of serpentinite-bearing rock. The peninsula's original name may have been the Celtic Bridanoc, from Britannakon ("the "British one"), preserved in the name of the former village of Predannack, now site of Predannack Airfield.[6 Perhaps we will never know for sure 🤫I enjoyed watching your video!

The cornish bakery (who have shops in many places around the South west) do a spiced cauliflower and onion bahji pasty. Sounds weird I know, but it is really tasty and is my pasry of choice, though my choice is somewhat limited as I'm a veggie. Try one. They also do a lovely cappuccino in there. Love watching your videos. I'm gradually doing the whole south west coast path myself, over many years though, lol.

Beautiful walk and views! Good to take note about routes, like the bridlepath instead of main road to Seatown, incase I try that one day. Glad you've had some good weather for walks. Do you travel all year or just over the summer? Thanks for sharing :)

I travel all summer, and try to do shorter trips during the year, but don't always film those. Also, I'm a slower editor, hence the publishing slowly after the fact. Glad you're enjoying the adventure.

Great introduction to a place I've heard a lot about but never been to. I have to say though, those crowds would have put me right off; it there are so many people at this time of the year it must be swamped with tourists in the summer.

I've been twice in the summer and once in the spring. The sunnier/warmer the weather, the more crowds. If you go in the summer, certainly get there early and beat the tour busses.
