It’s a shame that we will not be hearing any more of the valenta paxman engined power cars as of today

1:54 Does anyone know what those weird sounds the Mk3s are making is?
@12crepello6 жыл бұрын
It's the air suspension. Mk 3's sit on air cushions with the pressure in them controlled by valves. it is these valves releasing air that you can hear. Air is supplied from the compressors on the locomotives.
@86501freightliner3 жыл бұрын
It's also why the MK3s have impressive ride quality :)

HSTs in InterCity livery still look modern even today, to my mind.

The Lass O' Ballochmyle? thats 47635.
@NJPurling12 жыл бұрын
That was not clag, more like a brief gust of blue smoke. For real start up clag you want a stone-cold Class 31 or Class 37 with English Electric power plant. It is the sort of smoke screen a battleship could hide behind or it could make a corpse start coughing.

Fantastic sounds for the MTU. I was just wondering if it's not too much to ask. Could you try to re create a soundpack for the VP185 PowerCar on TS2012. Richard Armstrong created one on 2008 but has never updated the pack. There's lots of recordings out there at present from the EMT HST fleet. If you can do that it will be much appreciated. Thanks

Is there a differnce in sound on the modern hst with the MTU and the older 1 with valneta engine?
@glitch446513 жыл бұрын
@Antthecool1 When they built the 225s, some of the dvts wernt quite ready so they used the 125s which of course were being replaced

why did the rear power car 2:40 have buffers?
@markcf832 жыл бұрын
About ten were fitted with buffers as a possible alternative to fitting the trains on the East Coast Main Line with Driving Van Trailers when it was being electrified. Most of those so fitted ended up being used on Cross Country services and a few I believe operate on the Grand Central services.
